If you’re in Chiang Mai and you want a good deal for your home currency, then head on down to Metro Money Exchange.  We were amazed that this money exchange service can have a wide range of currencies readily exchanged into Baht and vice versa!

What we really liked though, is that compared to other exchange services in the area, Metro Money Exchange offers some of the best buying rates. 

We were also quite impressed with how professional and courteous their staff were. They will really make you feel comfortable, and that’s a big plus for us especially since you’re dealing with money here.

We’re also quite pleased that their facilities are very customer-friendly. You can easily park your car near their property and cool down in their air-conditioned site while you wait for your money exchange – a big thumbs up if you ask us!

We also think that their location is quite excellent. It’s located in the Old City of Chiang Mai making it a prime spot for you to have your home currency exchanged while enjoying the sights of the city.

The only thing we think that Metro Money Exchange can improve on is the quality of its notes. They need to make sure that the notes they give their customers do not have any micro-tears or it’s going to get rejected by some establishments.

Super Rich Money Exchange is one money changer in Chiang Mai you need to check out if you want fair exchange rates. We liked that they offered some of the best rates in the area and their buying and selling rates are almost equivalent.

We were also impressed with their facility, specifically their giant monitor which displays the latest currencies and rates. It’s comforting to know that while rates may change every minute, you can still get the most up-to-date rates flashed right before your eyes.

We also think it’s very convenient that their website and their onsite branch integrate their information right before you visit. You can check out their website first to confirm the rates offered before proceeding to their onsite location for your currency exchange.

On the downside, we think that Super Rich Money Exchange may be a bit too strict. So, you have to make sure that your currencies for exchange are unmarked or clean if you want them to accept your bills.

Also, while we understand that certain denominations are not readily available, we think it’s best that they prepare some in case you need those specific bills. You may want some 50s but most of the time they’ll say they can only give you 100s.

All in all, Super Rich Money Exchange offers some of the best rates in Chiang Mai so you should definitely check them out if you need some Bahts during your trip here.

Just because you’re in a hurry doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get the best exchange rates there are, right? Well, this is quite possible if you avail of the money exchange services of Mr. Pierre Money Exchange in Chiang Mai.

We were highly impressed with how fast their services are here. Most of the customers we talked with claimed that the process of having their home currency bills exchanged only took minutes – a big plus in our books especially if you’re in a rush!

We also found their facilities to be top-notch as their cashiers and staff are located behind a tellering desk reminiscent of a bank. We think this is quite professional and coupled with an air-conditioned waiting area, it’s certainly the exchange service to beat!

However, what really caught our attention were their significantly better buying rates even compared to market leaders like Visa. Imagine getting 11 cents more compared to other money changers.

Just be aware though that Mr. Pierre Money Exchange can be quite strict. Make sure that you bring your passport with you if you want to do some currency exchange and that the bills you have with you are unmarked, free from tears, and clean.

Sakol Money Exchange is one money changer to consider if you want reasonable rates and convenient transitions. While their rates are just above average (a bit higher than those in Bangkok), we think they have some advantages over the competition.

First, we were impressed with how convenient their services are. You can call in your request for currency exchange, schedule your branch visit, and get your desired currency all in just minutes.

This process is crucial as we observed that queues for Sakol Money Exchange can get really long (with up to 18 to 20 people lining up at the same time). 

We also liked that they give out queue numbers for walk-in clients – great if you want organised queues or lines!

We were surprised, though, that despite the efficient service most customers received, some complained that their customer service can be improved. The staff can sometimes come off as being grumpy or unapproachable so might be a turn-off for some.

We also think that they should consider giving options (e.g. advance payment vs. short-term reservations) to customers who want to set an appointment for currency pick-up. 

Some might not be too keen on paying in advance as they may want to reserve their preferred currency before paying on-site.

If you’re coming from a country with a not-so-common currency, then you may want to pay a visit to the VK currency exchange. It was quite impressive for us to see that they are able to do money exchange on hard-to-find currencies in Thailand.

We’re just quite bummed that their facility isn’t too great as the interiors can be quite cramped and the waiting area is almost virtually non-existent. However, we believe it’s passable as you’ll probably just visit them for good money exchange rates.

We also noted that their service is top-notch, and we think it’s quite fantastic considering the number of customers their staff needs to serve. 

Most of the customers we spoke with claim that they got efficient service along with a warm smile from VK Currency Exchange staff.

We also found it ideal that they can accommodate the requests for smaller denominations. It’s a lifesaver especially if you’re someone who wants smaller bills to better prepare your daily budget while on tour.

Just like the other money changers in Chiang Mai, we think they can be quite strict when it comes to the quality of your bills being exchanged. 

As such, we recommend that you check the cash you want exchanged for any small tears or markings as these may get disapproved by VK Currency Exchange.
