UAE started in 1990 as an environmental laboratory service. We’re very impressed that the company was able to leverage its laboratory roots and branch out into other environmental consulting services over the years.

It’s now a standalone, one-stop shop for environmental assessment, management, and monitoring, with clients such as government agencies and private projects in Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. We like its portfolio a lot because of the vastness of its operations.

We’re also glad that it has more than 500 qualified professionals (employed permanently!) to help with your company’s environmental compliance-related needs.

In our opinion, the best part of UAE is its services related to Public Consultation and Participation of stakeholders (a crucial part of government or regulatory compliance since a negative vote from the community can kill or delay any project).

We also like that it provides Training and Capacity Building for its clients’ personnel.

Another thing that caught our attention is UAE’s proven excellence in complying with its own government requirements as a company. 

It received numerous awards from the Thai Royal Family and different government agencies such as the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Labour— it’s also “environmental” by being certified as a “Green” office.

Moreover, it has standard certifications of ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015, which are signs that this company takes safety and efficient business processes seriously—an advantage for its clients, too.

However, given that UAE only focuses on environmental compliance, you would need to tap the services of other consultants when it comes to other aspects of construction and engineering compliance.

Environment Research and Technology Co., Ltd., or Envi Research for short, has been in the business for more than 20 years.

We’re delighted that S.P.S. has many clients here and abroad, including several government agencies, state universities, and governmental corporations. Its other clients are spread across the oil, metal, power, real estate, and transportation industries.

With this extensive operation, we’re not surprised that it has around 200 permanent professional staff like scientists, engineers, and technicians that work together like clockwork to ensure quality and timely results. 

S.P.S also shines with its numerous government accreditations and quality management systems in place. It’s up to date with the use of the latest technology like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), a more precise, digital way of mapping.

The aptly named Thai Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. (TEC) has been operating since 1961, or more than 60 years ago. It’s generally considered the “first Thai engineering consultant in the country.”

Given its stellar reputation and calibre, we’ve already expected TEC to have a long list of services—we’re not wrong at all!

These include feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, environmental planning (a.k.a. land development), construction, architecture and engineering design, surveying, and geotechnical materials testing.

We really like this Bangkok environmental consultant because its long list of services is beneficial and can enable a client to transact for more assistance with only one or fewer consultants—definitely a time and effort saver.

We’re in awe of TEC’s pioneer status in Thailand. Our hunch is that it might have already accomplished more consultancy projects than what’s highlighted in its current portfolio (and perhaps even more than its competitors combined).

Some notable ones include the first Green Building in Southeast Asia, the Energy Complex (EnCo) in Bangkok, built in 2010. Another great project of TEC was the Bhumibol Bridge (also in Bangkok), completed in 2006.

The only downside with its operations is that it opens quite later than what’s typical for its industry – 9 AM.

The best thing about SGS is its undeniable longevity in the consulting business. The company was established in 1878 as an export inspection service provider, and since then diversified its tools and services to span many industries.

This includes the conduct of environmental impact and social impact assessments for businesses. Other related and notable services are health and safety assessments and consultancies in construction, energy, and waste management

SGS established its Thailand branch in 1950, even way before some of the other consultants in this list existed. This longevity and expertise made us trust this company and deem it one of the best on this list.

Our respondents particularly loved that SGS Thailand is easy to reach. It has attentive staff ready to assist clients’ inquiries and concerns. 

However, as with any other large-scale operation, it’s inevitable to have difficulties achieving a consistent level of expertise and knowledge throughout every company level. 

Some clients have noted that some staff here have difficulty adjusting to non-standard or special jobs—quite concerning, too, for a company that’s supposed to be an industry leader.
