XML-Solar is a solar light and product store in the Bang Khae district. The brand might be vaguely familiar since XML-Solar has been featured several times on national TV and has its own YouTube channel.

Here, we looked at its main branch, although it has four other partner stores and distributors across Bangkok. 

Though it’s not as big as a mall hardware store, it’s spacious enough with lots of product samples; easy to walk around except if there are many customers.

This company imports and distributes solar lighting such as signs, spotlights, street lights, and garden lights. It also sells full on-grid or off-grid solar rooftop systems.

You can shop at its brick-and-mortar store or order online through its official website and online shopping applications. Keep your eyes peeled for any promos, especially during its anniversary!

However, products can be pricier online than in its physical store (net of any shipping fee). This is why we suggest you shop in person, especially if you’re going to buy in retail.

Our respondents love XML-Solar because of its very affordable products. For example, a 30-watt spotlight costs around THB 420, while their bestseller 300-watt solar street light costs less than THB 2,300.

Shopping in-store is also a pleasant experience—the staff can clearly explain every product’s features. Sales and after-sales service are also great.

XML-Solar is also popular in the corporate sector. Its past and current clients include Coca-Cola, PTT, Big C supermarkets, and Bangkok Hospital.

A Solar Corporation is another solar power equipment manufacturer and distributor in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district. Since 2012, it has provided customers with solar panels, street lamps, spotlights, garden lights, water pumps, and whole solar power systems.

We visited its head office in RamIntra, conveniently located near Bangkok’s industrial zones. The showroom is spacious and has a few tables for facilitating meetings between the sales staff and prospective customers.

A Solar’s key product is solar rooftops for homes and factories. Aside from the manufacturing part, we’re glad it can install these systems from start to finish.

What we like best about A Solar is its customer service. 

In addition to the installation mentioned above, this company has more than 10 service centers around the city (including two HomePro branches in Ratchapruek and Ekamai). 

A Solar staff regularly checks newly-installed systems. In addition, their team will investigate any problems with your solar power system within 24 hours.

Because of this, many of our respondents are impressed with the level of service and recommend this company.

We’re sad that this company’s showroom isn’t open on Sundays. We’d love to check out products outside our usual 9-to-5 for longer, especially since the head office could be a bit difficult to visit due to being at least 2 km (1.2 mi) from the nearest bus stop.

Another entry for our list of stores selling solar panels in Bangkok is Amorn Electronic. Its most notable branch for solar products is Amorn Center in Phahonyothin 58.

Established in 1981, it’s unsurprising that Amorn is one big name for electronic supplies and appliances. Notably, the Amorn Group of companies also has a subsidiary specifically catering to solar power called Amorn Solar.

In Amorn Solar, you can order a custom solar power system anywhere in Thailand. But do note that the head office of this solar subsidiary is located outside of Bangkok. 

But if you’re a DIYer or someone who already has an existing system at their home, you can also simply buy solar panels as low as THB 400 to 1200 at Amorn Electronic. You can even buy online and have your panels delivered to your doorstep. 

What we like the best in this Amorn branch is the presence of an in-house service center. Furthermore, they offer the complete package—you won’t need to go to any other Amorn branch to have any faulty item replaced or repaired.

The only thing our respondents have noted about shopping in this brick-and-mortar store is that the attentiveness and attitude of the sales staff leave more to be desired. Some even felt the sales staff were not interested in serving their customers. 

For a big brand like Amorn, we hope its management would heed customers’ opinions. We also hope steps are made to improve its sales staff’s training and overall quality.

Sunnergy, also known as Bangkok Solar Cell, is a solar power equipment supplier in the Bueng Kum district of Bangkok. It offers comprehensive solar power equipment supply and installation services.

We say comprehensive because Sunnergy handles the design, delivery, installation, and monitoring of on-grid and off-grid solar power systems nationwide. It also designs and installs solar water pumping systems and solar walkways.

Sunergy understands customers’ needs, which shows in its provision of instruction manuals for its installed systems written in Thai.

In short, Sunnergy is a one-stop shop for all your solar cell needs. In addition, it promises a long service life for its products with a one-year warranty, factory pricing, and regular maintenance by its engineering team.

We’re glad that Sunnergy also sells parts like chargers per piece in its online store. However, we’d like it better if the site were updated aesthetically and content-wise and enabled payment methods other than bank transfer.

Customers generally like Sunnergy’s services, but a small number of customers noted that this company’s pricing is higher than others. 

Some respondents also reported that after-sales service needed improvement. For example, Sunnergy’s phone lines are so many, yet they were rarely answered when customers required servicing of their solar systems.

We hope these are just isolated incidents or minor miscommunications between the concerned customers and the company for a specialized service.

Mahanakorn Engineering and Development Co. is a solar panel distributor located in Prawet. It’s well known as the official distributor of the Longi brand of solar panels and uses Kinsend mounting systems, Growatt inverters, and Lapp Kabel cables in projects.

It’s not a retailer but more of a general contractor for any solar power-related service, whether for your home or your business. Mahanakorn can even design and install a solar farm.

What we like best about this company is its competitive pricing. Of course, there’s no guarantee that you’ll always get the cheapest deals; however, you can be assured of getting the best deals for your money.

Any equipment installed will have a full factory warranty (25-30 years lifetime for solar cells and 5-10 for inverters) with regular maintenance.

Another thing that sets this company apart from other solar panel distributors and installers we’ve seen is the transparency it has about the training of its staff. It also offers in-house training to other engineers on how to install solar cells. 

As part of its services, it also assists in filing the necessary government permits for installing your desired solar power system.

We think they could still improve by updating their website and providing additional payment methods for their services. For example, its website looks like it was from the early 2000s, and only payment through bank transfers is accepted.

We’re also a bit disappointed that it’s only open on weekdays.

Ultimately, we believe that Mahanakorn is on the right track, and we hope that it still improves and continue to reinvent itself in the future.
