Siwilai is a concept lifestyle store located at the Central Embassy mall. It’s not just a clothing store; it’s also a cafe and event space with a scenic view of the Bangkok skyline.

We’ll focus on Siwilai’s clothing and lifestyle store for this review.

Siwilai opened in 2014 and has a classy yet Thai street market-inspired aesthetic designed by the international firm Yabu Pushelberg. We love this global and local flair mix, which tells the store’s image well.

It’s very roomy with an area of about 830 sq m (9,000 sq ft). For us, that’s a plus, but it might be a turnoff for some.

The best thing about this store is that it carries different types of apparel from international fashion brands (usually from Japan, Italy, the US, and London). However, these are generally not the mainstream ones. 

Yes, there’s Adidas, Asics, and Vans. Still, we’d never even heard of most brands available here until we visited the store!

Siwilai chooses its inventory with fashion and comfort as the main priority. So we’re glad that most of its clothes are casual or street wear and are eye-catching.

It might not be possible to buy multiple variants or sizes of a specific item. We think this limitation is because Siwilai does not carry a sizeable inventory or complete sizing for any item. 

Also, given the branding and limited nature, Siwilai products are expensive. Nevertheless, the store still gets long lines, especially if it releases a much-awaited little edition item. 

The only thing that we’re not a fan of here is the seemingly slow sales staff.

Another store in the legendary shopping district of Pathumwan is Greyhound Original. It’s been in the fashion circuit since 1980 after two friends decided to take a leap of faith and delve into a business they were not trained to partake in.

Greyhound Original attracted our attention because of its high-end casual and street fashion collections with socially relevant themes. Not all local fashion stores proudly carry their brand and are socially woke; some stores still have an “escapist” feel, but not this one.

In addition, Greyhound Original isn’t afraid to try new things. It has the most unusual collaborations: one with Pepsi in 2018 and another with IKEA in 2020.

We liked shopping at its Siam Center store. It has a vast floor area that’s great to roam around and an industrial vibe that blends well with its collections, bags, and shoes. 

The store staff is accommodating and friendly. They certainly know the items they sell so well.

However, we think we’re with the majority saying that Greyhound Original sells expensive clothing. For example, the most basic T-shirt for women in its inventory costs THB 1,500.

And suppose you’re a Bangkok local going to order clothes from its online store. In that case, you can only receive your items from Tuesday to Friday afternoon—good thing there’s no delivery fee. 

There’s also international shipping, but shipping costs will vary depending on your order’s size and destination.

For the ladies out there, SOS (also known as Sense of Style) might be your next go-to boutique in Bangkok. Its flagship store is conveniently located in a standalone four-level commercial space in Siam Square.

Established in 2015, SOS prides itself as an ally of the clothing brands looking for an extra push to scale. Also, it aims to satisfy customers who want a go-to boutique with all the clothes, accessories, and shoes they’ll ever need. 

SOS claims that its curated collection of brands can be mixed and matched with each other—and we believe that!

We think the general public will like the SOS inventory of over 150 brands. Still, we’re not surprised that some people see nothing exceptional about them.

We love SOS’ pricing, which goes from as low as THB 600 to just around THB 3,000. Ladies could already get elegant-looking clothes (think office-friendly and semi-formal attire) for fair prices.

Although if you’re a brand, aside from the economical option for a brick-and-mortar store, SOS can also help in your business’ PR and Marketing. We think this is definitely a win-win.

Shopping at SOS is very pleasant—the store is well-lit with a predominantly white motif. According to our respondents, the sales staff are always very attentive. 

We’re just not fans of its opening time of 12:00 noon when the rest of its competitors are already open by 10:00 or 11:00 AM.

Another_Story is fittingly another lifestyle store on our list. It offers a vast category of items from clothing and accessories, household items, decor, electronics, and even stationery!

We’ll focus on its branch in EmQuartier for this list but note that Another_Story has many other branches around the city.

Most of our respondents see this store predominantly as a great souvenir shop, especially for farangs. This is because Another_Story has the most unique and helpful souvenirs available in Bangkok, like aesthetic shirts, phone cases, and tea.

It’s also an excellent fashion boutique with selections for men, women, and kids. 

However, it seems that its items also cater to tourists. We’ve mostly seen lounge or beachwear, many accessories, the souvenirs mentioned above, and some casual wear.

Let’s say you’re seeking a Bangkok boutique that provides cheaper apparel styles. In that situation, we advise you to visit a different shop.

Ultimately, if the budget and motive fit your needs, Another_Story is an excellent choice. 

Bonus points are for its two partner bakeries on the store premises: the vegan Banana Warrior Cafe and the French bakery Amantee. After shopping, you can grab a bite to unwind from your shopping trip.

BOYY is perhaps one of this list’s biggest and most successful Thai brands. It has graced many major fashion shows in Milan, Paris, and New York during the last few years.

Its signature Karl 24 bag has caught the eyes of many designers and fashion influencers and continues to have a cult following. In 2018, Business of Fashion dubbed BOYY the “Anti-IT bag.”

BOYY was humbly started in 2006 by the Thai-Canadian couple Wannasiri “Boy” Kongman and Jesse Dorsey. Since then, they’ve moved headquarters to Thailand, then moved again in 2018 to Milan, Italy, to be at the heart of the fashion industry.

Despite this strategy, BOYY is still Thai by nature. This company proudly makes stylish bucket bags, the brand’s signature among other types of bags it has, with authentic Italian leather and Thai craftsmanship.

It also operates four branches in Thailand, including our focus, BOYY, in the Luxe Gallery Zone of Central Chidlom mall’s department store.

As expected from its fame, BOYY bags and accessories are truly expensive. A single item can set you back from USD 600 to 2,000 (THB 20,000 to 60,000)!

Regardless of the price, we still love the whole experience of shopping at BOYY because of its very helpful salespeople.
