Tony, the head coach and owner of Swimming Bangkok, is certified by Swimming Australia. He stands out for his tailored lessons for all skill levels.

We loved his whole “you pool, your pace” approach—private lessons right in the clients’ own pool end up feeling way less intimidating. And we heard from several parents that it helped their shy kids settle in a lot faster than they would at a crowded public pool.

Though if you don’t have your own pool, it’s on you to sort out the venue. Gladly, Tony’s happy to show up wherever works best for his students!

His focus on safety and technique came up a lot in our chats with students. He’ll tweak the strokes and drills as the students progress, so there’s no cookie-cutter routine at all.

Plus, we definitely appreciated the transparency around pricing; the whole setup is pay-as-you-go or subscribe, so no surprise fees. Tony doesn’t do group classes, though, so this is strictly personalized, one-on-one swimming.

Pros

  • Fully tailored lessons
  • Certified instructor
  • Flexible scheduling
  • One-on-one focus
  • Transparent pricing

Cons

  • No group classes
  • Must have own pool

Playful instruction

“Spectacular results, very pleasant teacher!

Coach Ivan was fantastic! He basically tought our 4 year old how to swim in just 10 days! He used a very tailored teaching in a playful way. Can highly highly recommend if you want your kids to be safe in the water or/and learn technique. He was very flexible and our son really liked him and so did we!”

I enjoyed the five lessons I took with Tony because of his great energy, sense of humor and professional guidance. Highly recommended~”

Born To Swim is the sort of place we wish existed when we were kids! They cater to babies as young as four months up to tots and lead kids around eight, which already tells us how niche and specialized the program is.

The minimalist indoor pool is actually saltwater, maintained at a cozy 32-33°C. This level of comfort really helps little ones get over pool jitters without shivering through class.

The instructors here are also noteworthy. They’re every bit as patient and experienced as we’d hoped, with genuinely playful approaches that have even the shyest preschoolers giggling inside five minutes flat.

Lessons, schedules, and even package prices are all out in the open, which always wins points with us.

We also commend their relaxing reception area—think plush chairs, tons of space, and a changing room that’s actually big enough for real-life wrangling. Sadly, grown-ups are strictly spectating—this place is just for the little crowd.

Pros

  • Baby-focused pool
  • Warm saltwater
  • Certified instructors
  • Spacious facilities
  • Clean changing rooms

Cons

  • Kids only

Fear-free environment

“My son has a big fear of going under water for years, but within 1 course of learning here, he has overcome his fear and loves to swim. Highly recommend to bring your little ones to learn swimming here, the teachers are very friendly, very clean and peaceful environment.”

Manita Khorana, Google Review

Progressive instruction

“Excellent lessons, tailored for young kids learning to swim. Teachers are extremely nice, patient, and the pool is clean, filled with salted water (no chlorine), which is great. They go through progressive steps for kids until they can swim autonomously. Great overall swimming school!”

Lets Asia Swimming School honestly stands out as one of the most versatile and lively swim schools in Bangkok. What really raises the bar here is Maki, the founder, a record-holding swimmer from Kyushu, Japan, with a third degree of teaching under her belt.

Now, we noticed how inclusive their programs are; they cover the whole range from six-month-old babies all the way up to adults in their nineties!

All their lessons are available in both English and Japanese, making life way easier for expat families. Their outdoor pool also means kids get sunlight along with their swim strokes.

The school isn’t just about basic swimming either—think holiday camps, PE classes for schools, aquabics, and even maternity swimming (currently in Japanese only). Birthday pool parties and regular swim galas keep things buzzing on weekends—who doesn’t love parties?

The only real downside is their upfront, term-based payment policy, so everything needs to be settled before classes even start.

Pros

  • Multilingual instruction
  • All ages welcome
  • Outdoor pool
  • Variety of programs
  • Experienced founder
  • Fun camps/events

Cons

  • Upfront full payment
  • Outdoor (weather limits)

Supportive staff

“The best swimming school in Bangkok, Thailand for my daughter. The coaches and staff here are welcoming, friendly, and supportive. Facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the swimming pool at Soi 31 is excellent. Couldn’t recommend highly enough if your child is looking to boost their confidence in the water. Thank you Let’s Asia!”

BEST Aquatic Centre’s programs are structured for infants as young as just a few months, all the way up to 14-year-old kids. This gives a real sense that no matter the child’s age or confidence in the water, they’re covered.

They also offer a dedicated mother-and-baby swim program, which families seem to love for the bonding and early water skills. What really struck us, though, was how well-trained and genuinely invested the instructors are.

They’re actually rolling out a syllabus that pushes kids to improve at their own pace, with regular skill assessments, transparent communication about grades, and small group ratios for more personalized attention.

Furthermore, the lesson structure covers everything from basic water comfort and floating to actual strokes, and they’re really clear about progression and safety at every stage.

The only gripe we noticed is that on busy days, the pool can fill up since different levels are running at the same time, so it sometimes gets a little crowded.

Pros

  • Various age groups
  • Skilled instructors
  • Unique programs
  • Skill assessments
  • Transparent grading
  • Mother-baby option

Cons

  • Crowded pool
  • Multiple groups

Effective coaching

“Spotless facilities and superb coaching from the team at BEST. My child has been taking classes here for a few months and his strokes and starts have really improved. This offers a great supplement to being on a team at school. Thanks”

Attentive instruction

“I’ve been looking for a swimming session where my son could improve his stroke, build confidence, and gain strength. And I’ve finally found the right place. The teachers here are highly qualified, and my son especially enjoys learning with Teacher Mirin. T. Mirin knows exactly how to encourage and gently challenge him to go beyond his limits in a positive and supportive way. I’ve also shared some special requests with the teachers, and they’ve been incredibly attentive and helpful. I truly appreciate the care and professionalism here.”

Bangkok Dolphins Swimming Centre has been around since 1997 and has taught over 10,000 swimmers, which is honestly impressive.

What’s even more impressive is that they’re accredited by both the Thai Ministry of Education and Swim Australia, giving students confidence that their instructors are properly trained.

In fact, we’ve learned that all their coaches here are AustSwim or STA-certified and have undergone intensive in-house training.

Another plus is that the classes are kept small. We also noticed how they’re very keen on making lessons both fun and purposeful, blending playful activities with solid skill development.

Parents we spoke with appreciated the variety, from parent-child classes to fast-track jump-start sessions for those wanting to level up quickly.

Furthermore, we found out that their pool is heated to a cozy 33°C, which is nice for year-round lessons and especially great for babies and toddlers.

Offering a free trial is pretty inviting as well, but we did hear that sometimes instructors start the lesson without much of a welcome with new students in trials.

Pros

  • Accredited instructors
  • Multiple locations
  • Heated pools
  • Small class sizes
  • Free trial
  • Diverse programs

Cons

  • Impersonal trial sessions
  • Inconsistent welcoming

Nurturing guidance

“We participated in the baby swim class with our 7 month old son. We felt so well taken care of, the instructor clearly knew what he was doing, had a great way of teaching us how to introduce the water to our baby safely and had a great sense of playfulness with him. It truly made our stay in Bangkok one of a kind. Thank you!”

Confidence-building

“Great swimming classes, my son has been following lessons for the past one year, and is now very comfortable swimming. Teacher Ryan is doing a fantastic job in bringing confidence to children, being playful, engaging and supportive. Highly recommended !”
