How to Get There
MRT: The easiest way to get to Rattanakosin is via the Sanam Chai MRT Station. You can simply walk your way to the venue from this station and it’ll only take you a few minutes to get there.
Depending on where you’re coming from in Bangkok, you’ll probably have to spend around 15 to 70 THB per trip on the BTS or the MRT.
Tuk-tuks: You can also get to the site via tuk-tuks and this option is quite convenient as they can drop you off point-to-point. Tuk-tuks are great if you want some cultural immersion but their routes and rates can be quite unreliable.
A short tuk-tuk ride will cost you around 50 THB. Just make sure that you come up with an agreed rate with your tuk-tuk driver before to avoid getting overcharged for the fare.
Taxis: The easiest way to get to Rattanakosin and get around Bangkok is via taxi. However, keep in mind that It’s going to be more expensive than the other options as they can set you back 100 THB for every 10 kilometres depending on traffic.
Ride Sharing: Getting a ride via ride-hailing apps can be the most convenient option for you if you want to get to the park fast. It’s going to be the most expensive as rates can double compared to a taxi, especially during peak or rush hour.

You can check out this shrine near the Temple of the Emerald Buddha inside the grounds of the Grand Palace. Here, you’ll find the shrine housing the city pillar that was transferred when the capital of Thailand was transferred to Bangkok.

Also known as Prasat Phra Thep Bidon, the Royal Pantheon is a site you need to visit if you want to learn more about the country’s interesting history. The structure was supposed to house the emerald statue but the plan was eventually abandoned.

What to Expect from Thailand Weather
Dry Season: Thailand’s dry season runs from December to February and this is the best time for you and most tourists to visit the country. The weather is going to be more comfortable for you during this period and will be generally cooler (for Thailand, that is).
You can also expect to get lots of light winds and warm sunlit days during the country’s dry season. There may still be some occasional rain showers here in there but nothing too serious to set your travel plans back.
This is also the country’s peak season so you should expect to find a lot more tourists during this time. With this, keep in mind that tours, hotels, and flights, may be pricier.
Hot Season: If you’re the type who would rather avoid pricier rates of Thailand’s peak season (dry season), then travelling to the country from March and April or during the hot season might be your best bet. If you can stand the heat, then it’s all good!
Thunderstorms and the occasional rain can still occur during this period as the rainy season is just around the corner. However, if you’re planning to do some water-based activities or some outdoor ones, then it’s simply better to go during the peak season.
Rainy Season: Around the month of September, the weather can become unpredictable as the monsoon season hits. Rainfall is most likely to occur with short and heavy bursts of downpour.
You shouldn’t be out in the water during this period as well, as the waves and the winds are going to be rough. Plus, the water can get murky, giving you a less than ideal experience while you’re in Thailand.
What’s good about the rainy season though, is that you can get some very good rates from hotels and tour operators. If you have activities lined up that won’t be affected by rain, then this might be an option for you.
