By Car: If you’re travelling from Chiang Rai city centre, taking a taxi, private car, or renting a vehicle is a convenient way to reach the museum. The journey typically takes around 30 to 40 minutes, and you can follow route signs or use GPS for directions.

By Tuk-Tuk: Tuk-tuks (ow 667)  are a popular mode of transportation in Chiang Rai. Negotiate a fare with the tuk-tuk driver for a round-trip or one-way ride to the museum. 

Keep in mind that tuk-tuks are open-air vehicles, so consider the weather conditions.

By Tour Package: Many local tour agencies offer guided tours that include transportation to the Hall of Opium Museum. These packages often include additional attractions and services, providing a convenient and comprehensive experience.

By Public Transportation: While public buses might not directly go to the museum, you can take a local bus to Mae Sai, which is about 4 kilometres away from the museum.

Its innovative layout includes seating zones both inside the building, on the rooftop, and at waterfront kiosks. A long blue pool adds a touch of serenity, and a charming bridge takes you across to the inviting kiosks.

Baan Kid Ngern Restaurant Chiangsan’s diverse menu features a variety of Central Thai and Northeastern Thai dishes. From mouthwatering curries to delightful stir-fries, every dish is a treat worth savouring. 

The best part is the generous portions are not only delicious but also offer great value for the price.

While the restaurant ticks off many boxes – from quick service to a pleasant ambiance – there’s one small hiccup: it only accepts cash payments. Unfortunately, credit cards aren’t also accepted here. 

So, remember to bring cash or be prepared for a quick transfer when dining here.

Hot Season (March to May): The hot season in Chiang Rai brings a touch of warmth and intensity. Daytime temperatures rise, creating a balmy atmosphere with averages hovering between 30°C and 35°C (86°F to 95°F). 

Some days might even surprise you with higher temperatures, particularly in April. Evenings offer a respite, staying comfortably warm.
