Blue Elephant Phuket Cooking School is more than just a cooking class—it’s an experience. Former guests rave about its perfect mix of luxury, tradition, and hands-on learning.

The day typically begins with a guided tour of a local market, where instructors like Chef Molly or Chef Paul break down the essentials of Thai ingredients.

We love how the class balances instruction with personal creativity, letting everyone cook their own meals and enjoy them in the stunning restaurant afterward.

The historical ambiance of the venue, combined with friendly instructors, makes it a standout. We noted, however, that the price is on the higher side for solo participants, which might not suit every budget.

But if you’re after a polished, educational, and utterly delicious day, Blue Elephant is hard to beat. It’s the kind of class that leaves you inspired and with a new appreciation for Royal Thai cuisine.

Pros

  • Combines luxury, tradition, and hands-on learning
  • Guided market tour to learn about Thai ingredients
  • Opportunity to cook and enjoy meals in a stunning restaurant
  • Historical and elegant ambiance

Cons

  • Higher price point, especially for solo participants

     A bucket-list-worthy cooking experience

“One of those once in a lifetime bucket list item. Chef Molly and Chef Mok Mok made this authentic Thai cooking class a truly memorable experience. I am now equipped with excellent Thai cooking skills, ready to take on my kitchen back home in South Africa.

What sets this culinary school apart, is that you tour the local market and stock up the fresh produce that you will use in your dishes. I will come back to Phuket JUST to have this experience again. Thank you.”

Chef VJ’s cooking class is one of the most highly recommended experiences in Phuket, and it’s easy to see why. Former participants love the seamless structure, starting with an exciting market tour led by engaging instructors like Jane or Gigi.

We like how this class makes everything accessible, from customised dietary options (gluten-free dishes for one guest were a big win) to personalised requests for favorite recipes like papaya salad.

The hands-on experience of creating dishes like green curry and mango sticky rice at individual cooking stations is a major plus in our books. However, one client noted some areas, like cutting boards and mats, could use a little extra attention to cleanliness.

Even with this small hiccup, the professionalism and enthusiasm of the team make this class an excellent choice for learning authentic Thai cooking.

    Pros

    • Engaging market tours with knowledgeable instructors
    • Accommodates dietary needs, including gluten-free options
    • Hands-on individual cooking stations for a personalised experience
    • Flexible with customised recipe requests

    Cons

    • Some areas like cutting boards and mats could use improved cleanliness

      Cooking made fun and easy

“Didn’t know a cooking class could be so much fun! The team were like a well oiled machine tidying up the mess while we enjoyed cooking and eating the food!

There was always someone nearby to make sure you knew what you were doing and it was very interesting and informative. Needless to say, the food was delicious.

Excellent activity for a rainy day or otherwise 🙂 thank you VJ and team”

      A delightful family experience

“We learnt to cook Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, Green/Red curry and Mango sticky rice. Our instructor Gigi was very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Even our 10 year old son loved it. Highly recommended!”

Kata Thai Cooking Class is a gem for families and anyone looking for a lighthearted, informative experience. Instructor Jim is a fan favorite for his humor and clear explanations, making the class enjoyable for all ages.

We love how this class feels less like a formal workshop and more like a family gathering, especially with the inclusion of children in a safe, supervised environment.

The itinerary includes a market tour, ingredient quizzes (a fun touch), and step-by-step cooking of crowd favorites like papaya salad, Tom Yum soup, and mango sticky rice. The only downside, noted by one guest, is that the setup can feel a bit basic compared to more upscale classes.

However, the warmth, laughs, and amazing food more than make up for it. If you’re traveling with family or just want a relaxed, interactive class, this one’s worth checking out!

      Pros

      • Family-friendly and interactive atmosphere
      • Fun ingredient quizzes and step-by-step guidance
      • Welcoming instructor with humor and clear explanations
      • Ideal for bonding and relaxed learning

      Cons

      • Setup feels basic compared to more upscale classes

A class full of fun and flavour

“We had so much fun! Pick up was well communicated and right on time. Learning environment was clean and comfortable. Our instructor, Jim, was fantastic! He is a born educator.

We learned so much about the ingredients and dishes. He taught us tricks and substitutions so we could successfully replicate the dishes at home. Overall it was the most enjoyable thing we’ve done while in Phuket.

We were smiling the whole time, Jim’s enthusiasm is infectious.”

        Amy, Google Review

        Cooking with care and creativity

“My parents and I had an amazing time with Jim as our masterchef. He was prompt with pick up, explained the vegetables and coconut milk process at the market and gave us amazing advice and recipes to cook.

We loved every second. His 2 helpers were excellent as well. We made penang curry, spring rolls, cashew chicken curry and mango sticky rice. He was able to make adjustments to the recipes for intolerances too. Thanks Jim!”

Thai Cooking Class by Tony offers an intimate, hands-on experience that’s as fun as it is educational. Tony and his team guided us and the other participants through everything, from selecting ingredients at a local market to cooking four delicious Thai dishes.

We loved how the team accommodated various dietary needs—vegetarian options were seamlessly integrated. Plus, we appreciated the kitchen’s cleanliness and organisation, which were top-notch in our books!

The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, and the instructors sprinkled in local stories that added a great cultural touch. However, one drawback we noted together was the difficulty of finding the location due to the lack of a signboard, which could be a bit tricky for first-timers.

Despite this, the experience stood out for its engaging format and mouthwatering results. If you’re in Phuket and looking for an approachable yet authentic cooking class, Tony’s is a fantastic choice.

        Pros

        • Intimate and hands-on cooking experience
        • Accommodates various dietary needs, including vegetarian options
        • Clean and well-organised kitchen
        • Casual and welcoming atmosphere with cultural insights

        Cons

        • Location is difficult to find due to the lack of signage

Amazing market tour and top-notch cooking with Tony

“We absolutely loved this class with Tony and his helpers. The visit to the local market was breathtaking, so many things we haven’t seen and tried before.

Tony’s expertise and knowledge are great. He was able to answer all of our questions and also gave us some extra tips, how to make these dishes at home.

We were very lucky as it was only us three in the class. The kitchen is very modern and clean. This was a great experience, we highly recommend Tony’s cooking class to everyone. Thank you for today Tony. 😊”

A must-do private cooking class with Chef Anna

“We attended a fabulous private cooking class and walked away with a plethora of useful tips. We cooked Massaman curry, Green curry, Pad See Ew, a couple of Thai-style soups, and sticky rice.

Chef Anna’s instructions were clear and engaging. It was also nice to visit the local market to select our cooking ingredients and sample the local market street foods.

This cooking class is an absolute essential 👌🏼😃”

Thai Cooking Studio Phuket, led by the talented and warm Care, delivers an unforgettable culinary experience. Guests often highlight Care’s responsiveness and enthusiasm, which make the class feel personal and interactive.

We particularly like the smaller class sizes—just four stations—which allows for focused guidance and plenty of room to cook dishes like massaman curry, tom yum soup, and mango sticky rice.

However, we noted that the smaller group size might not suit those looking for a more social or lively experience.

On the other hand, Care’s organised teaching style, paired with her knack for creating a welcoming atmosphere, is a big plus. The class starts with a market tour, followed by hands-on cooking in a beautifully designed studio.

Overall, the delicious food, thoughtful teaching, and cosy vibe make this studio a fantastic pick for anyone wanting an intimate Thai cooking experience.

          Pros

          • Small class sizes for focused guidance
          • Warm and enthusiastic instructor creates a welcoming atmosphere
          • Market tour and hands-on cooking in a beautifully designed studio
          • Delicious food and thoughtful teaching

          Cons

          • Smaller group size may not suit those seeking a more social experience

Highly recommend for Thai cooking fun

“Just had the best cooking class with Care. What a great way to learn the tricks of the Thai kitchen. Highly recommend this experience if you are coming to Phuket.

Market shopping and the class time with Care was simply brilliant and the food was delicious.”

Flexible private class with amazing food

“We had a wonderful time with Care at her cooking studio. Everything super clean and hygienic. We cooked with just our family in a private class.

Care was very flexible in some dishes we would really like to learn to cook, such as Thai Beef Salad. It was a great experience and the food tasted delicious!”
