The Top 5 Lunch Restaurants in Bangkok That Are So Delicious, You’ll Forget Your Name!

  • Menu and Food Quality - A restaurant with a variety of food options can accommodate different tastes. Most importantly, food quality can make or break the whole dining experience.
  • Ambience - Customers expect a good vibe when sitting down in a restaurant because it impacts the whole experience.
  • Availability - Many Bangkok restaurants tend to be busy due to the influx of customers (locals and tourists). So, we based this on how accessible the location is, and if the waiting times aren’t ridiculously long.
  • Price - If the food aligns with the prices, you’ll receive the best value for money. It’s important to get your money’s worth when dining in.

It’s no secret that Bangkok is an epicurean paradise. In every corner, no matter where you look, there’s a food spot that oozes rich aroma.

But with all these options, it’s sometimes tough to find the best places to eat for lunch, whether you’re on your work break or if you’re a visitor looking for a spot that will blow your mind.

We narrowed it down, don’t worry, because even we get overwhelmed with this city’s offerings. Here are our go-to restaurants in Bangkok for lunch, including local spots and international flavors, that won’t disappoint your taste buds!

When in Bangkok, a lunch visit to Rongros should be on your list. It’s a restaurant that has been featured in the Michelin Guide 2019-2025, so you know the food is good.

It’s open for lunch and dinner, where you can taste traditional Thai cuisine. It’s located by the river with stunning views of Wat Arun, and the interior is equally beautiful.

Its name translates to “House of Flavors,” which is appropriate because of its complex and rich taste—and it’s not ridiculously priced, despite its popularity. The menu, from appetizer to dessert, is your traditional cuisine presented beautifully.

One of its highly rated dishes, for good reason, is the Green Curry of NZ Ribeye served with roti, which is spicy (just like how it should be) and flavorful. I did eat this with the Sriracha Pineapple Rice, which is also a perfect pairing, but may be too spicy for some.

But it’s not for spontaneous eats. It’s busy and attracts a lot of customers, so it’s best to book in advance, and by that, I mean weeks.

Pros

  • Featured in the Michelin Guide
  • Stunning views of Wat Arun
  • Located by the river
  • Beautifully presented dishes
  • Good pricing

Cons

  • Requires booking weeks in advance

Did not disappoint

“We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation at Rongros on our last night in Bangkok! It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The rooftop view of Wat Arun is really beautiful and peaceful, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the garlic prawns and the three stinkers fried rice, as well as the roti + green curry and the morning glory tempura! The mango sticky rice was PERFECT.”

Antonia Adebambo, Google Review

The food is excellent

“I was so excited about this and it did not disappoint! The food is excellent although the price matches the prime viewing location. Getting a rooftop table can be risky as there is definitely no rain plan and the restaurant is always booked solid so you can’t simply move inside. Luckily it did not rain on us. The service is not Michelin quality but the overall experience is well worth it.”

SOI Bangkok doesn’t disappoint if you’re craving authentic Thai cuisine in a refined setting with traditional decor and a touch of international design. There’s no problem with the location since it’s on the ground floor of a hotel—parking’s a breeze.

The food? Totally delicious and bursting with flavors without being overwhelming to the palate. The curries are worth a try, particularly the Massaman Curry in coconut milk, which has a hint of nutty taste—a bestseller in my tummy for a reason!

The grilled options are popular and are prepared with seasonal produce (as much as possible), with flavors that will take you to the streets of Bangkok. But this time, you can skip the long lines.

Food isn’t the only superstar here. The beverage menu has a good selection of cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks, making it easy to find the drink to pair with your meal.

But make sure your wallet’s ready for your lunch bill because it’s very expensive here. If you aren’t dining alone, you can expect to spend over a thousand baht here, even without a big order.

Pros

  • Beautifully decorated place
  • Easy to find parking
  • Good selection of food and drinks
  • Ideal place for Thai street food

Cons

  • Expensive prices

Fantastic restaurant

“Fantastic restaurant. We loved att he food we tried (Massamam beef, turmeric seabass, thai ice tea, mango sticky rice). But what makes this place so amazing is the friendly, attentionate and genuinely nice staff. We visited with our 2-year old and felt very welcome and had an amazing meal.”

Julie Monast-Nadeau, Google Review

All the dishes were well-balanced

“A modern place with an open concept design. Great menu selections, good value for money but most importantly all the dishes ordered were well-balanced between flavors and textures. Nattiya and Punyapron were very attentive and proactive when providing table services. The background music unifies the decor, ambiance, food, and service. Great place to visit if you want a chill afternoon in the AC while enjoying different excitements on the tip of your tongue. Highly recommended!”

If you want to go where the cool kids go, head over to Embers in Bangkok Noi. This stunning restaurant has a sleek and modern design that elevates the whole dining experience—imagine the pics!

What’s important is the menu, which never fails to make my belly happy during lunch, including the diverse dessert options. It serves Italian dishes, including the Pizzata with a ridiculous amount of grated parmesan on top, but in a good way.

It’s one of the best Italian places in Bangkok, where you’ll find the most authentic Italian flavors you can get in the city, and it delivers in an impressive way. The crust of the pizza is always crunchy with charred bits that are satisfying in every way.

It’s a popular spot, though, so expect to see loads of customers, especially on holidays and weekends. My friends and I did have to wait for a bit, even with a confirmed reservation, and on particularly busy days, finding a parking spot can be extra tough.

Pros

  • Sleek and modern design
  • Delicious Italian dishes
  • Pizza crust is always cooked right
  • Good selection of desserts

Cons

  • Tends to have long wait times
  • Parking is limited

The staff is friendly

“Lovely atmosphere with good background music and parking available. We came for lunch and enjoyed tasty pizza, fresh salad, and a nice variety of spaghetti. The staff are friendly, and if you come alone, they even seat a cute teddy bear beside you so you won’t feel lonely. 💕”

The atmosphere always feels so welcoming and warm

“The atmosphere in that place always feels so welcoming and warm.  The decor really sets the mood, making you feel like you’ve escaped somewhere special.  You can tell the staff actually enjoy their jobs, always attentive and helpful.  The food is incredible, with flavors of the italian. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for a relaxed meal.”

One of my favorite things about The Burma Food House is its cosy space. It’s casual with a minimal-inspired design, and is ideal for meeting up with friends or family.

It brings to the table authentic flavors of Myanmar, approved by my Burmese friends! There’s a good variety on the menu that Thais will find familiar—there’s a diverse curry selection.

One of its signature dishes, the Kyay Oh Si Chet, is a delicious Burmese-style noodle in a rich broth (made from 8 to 12 hours of simmering fresh bones and joints), that’s rich and filling without burning a hole in your pocket.

The meals are balanced in flavors and texture, which are perfect for lunch. They’ll fill you up without feeling too full that you cannot move anymore. But the service can be slow, especially during busy hours.

Price-wise, you get what you pay for. It isn’t the most affordable in town, but it’s fairly priced, especially when you factor in the servings.

Pros

  • Authentic Burmese food
  • Good balance in flavor and texture
  • Filling meals
  • Good value for money

Cons

  • Slow service at times

Everything tasted so good

“I really enjoyed my meal at Bama Food House! I had Nanji Dou, Min Kwa Yue Salad, rice, and egg curry ,everything tasted so good! The food is amazing, flavorful, and freshly made. Such an amazing place with delicious dishes!”

Overall a great experience

“We randomly chose this restaurant and it turned out to be so good. The staff recommended me the pennywort salad and it is amazing, other dish is also great, he is so nice, speak fluent English and take good care of us. The price is reasonable, it was overall a great experience for us. I highly recommend!!!”

When it comes to authentic cuisine, Taye Ethiopian Restaurant knows how to do it right. Your lunch here will be prepared using the cooking methods used in Ethiopia, which include a blend of spices and careful cooking for tender meats.

And it consistently performs, which you can taste in every dish. A crowd favorite is the Doro Wot, a spicy chicken stew cooked for hours to get the tender and flavorful profile.

You’ll probably be overwhelmed by the menu, but in a good way! Expect to spend a couple of minutes browsing because there are a ton of choices, including vegetarian dishes—and unlike other restaurants, the veggie options aren’t just salads.

The coffee also takes centre stage, as it has a complex profile that balances out the rich flavors of the food, almost like a palate cleanser.

But if you’re coming here, just take public transit because parking is limited. There’s also a long wait, even when you’re already seated at the table and ready to order. Still, the vibe is very casual, which adds a nice charm—simple and no pretentiousness.

Pros

  • Authentic Ethiopian food preparation
  • Lots of offerings on the menu
  • Casual and unpretentious vibe
  • Solid vegetarian options

Cons

  • Long wait times
  • Limited parking spaces

Absolutely delicious food

“Absolutely delicious food! It was my first time trying out Ethiopian food and it definitely did not disappoint. I tried their Meat combo platter and I realize I should have shared this with another person since it’s very heavy! Totally worth the value in money!”

Camille Armas, Google Review

Definitely a must-try

“Six stars. So good. I’m so glad I found this place and finally tried it. When I went the place was empty so I felt like I was eating at someone’s living room. I had the recommended veggy combo and every side was a hit. Can’t recommend it enough. Definitely a must try. My only regret is that I didn’t try the samosas.”
