With over two decades of experience, the organization has built a strong reputation for professional, ethical, and culturally responsive counseling that aligns with recognized international standards.

A key strength of New Counseling Service lies in its diverse and highly experienced team of counselors who work with clients across a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including Thai nationals, expatriates, international school students, and third-culture individuals. Their commitment to accreditation is central to their practice, as counselors are accredited by the ACC in the UK and/or the ACT in Thailand, and the organization works closely with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) to ensure its methods remain current and globally recognized.

The center offers therapy for individuals, couples, and families, with services available to clients of all ages—from young children to adults in their 70s and beyond. For in-person counseling, the organization operates two convenient locations near BTS Asok and BTS Saphan Khwai, making services more accessible to clients across Bangkok.

New Counseling Service is particularly distinguished by its extensive multilingual support, offering therapy in English, Thai, Dutch, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, and Russian. This wide language coverage allows clients to receive care in a language they feel comfortable with, which can significantly enhance trust, clarity, and therapeutic progress.

Their therapeutic approach is broad and evidence-based, incorporating a wide range of modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, Satir therapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), the Gottman method, Gestalt therapy, person-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), schema therapy, play therapy, and sandtray therapy. With specialists across these disciplines, the organization prioritizes matching each client with the most suitable therapist for their specific needs and goals.

In terms of scope, New Counseling Service addresses a wide variety of mental health and personal development concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, confidence building, stress management, and relationship challenges. In addition to private counseling, the organization also provides Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services, supporting both individuals and organizations in maintaining mental well-being and workplace resilience.

The center further demonstrates its commitment to safety and professional standards through its membership in recognized organizations such as the Employee Assistance European Forum (EAEF) and the Safety and Health at Work Promotion Association (Thailand). These affiliations reinforce its dedication to ethical practice, client protection, and continuous professional development.

Overall, New Counseling Service stands out as a comprehensive and internationally aligned psychotherapy provider with strong multicultural expertise and flexible service delivery. Dr. Eric K. Mason’s Lighthouse Counselling really sets itself apart if you want a seasoned therapist who understands both expat and Thai clients.

He brings a wealth of experience from the US, and you can absolutely tell there’s a solid foundation behind the services—he’s been established since 2012, after all.

The menu at Lighthouse is broad: psychotherapy, life coaching, addiction recovery, ADHD assessments, and diagnostic testing, so you’ll have options. What we really appreciate is that they’re up-front about pricing.

Their packages for longer-term therapy actually save you a bit, especially if you’re planning on regular sessions.

As for the actual sessions, previous patients we spoke with mentioned that they feel like they were actually listened to. Dr. Mason’s warmth is genuine, and he doesn’t rush through sessions at all.

Furthermore, the clinic feels welcoming, and the appointment scheduling (online or in person) is pretty flexible. Unfortunately, there was one hiccup with double booking, which the staff handled quickly, but it’s worth flagging.

Pros

  • Experienced American psychotherapist
  • Wide range of services
  • Caters to both expats and Thai clients
  • Attentive approach
  • Flexible appointment options (online & in-person)
  • Easy-to-access location

Cons

  • Occasional double-booking issue

Phatthapong “Boss” Thamrongpreechachai of OOCA Mental Wellness Clinic got a master’s in counseling psych from Chiang Mai University and a heavy toolkit—CBT, mindfulness, Buddhist psychology, self-compassion—the works.

From what we learned, he’s especially good with stress, mood issues, rough patches in relationships, and pretty much anyone new to therapy. He doesn’t just stick to a script; sessions actually feel like they’re built around you.

Now, the clinic itself is super chill and private, which is great if you’re an introvert or just not into clinical atmospheres. We did notice, though, that the waiting area could be tidier when things get busy, but nothing ruined the experience.

Some extra points: their tech set-up is next-level—their Uga app makes online booking (and even online therapy) hassle-free. Tried it ourselves—it was as easy as therapy gets.

Plus, free stress tests and meds can be delivered if that’s part of your care. A few clients we chatted with swear by the online sessions, especially if you want to skip the rare messy area.

Pros

  • Relaxed, private clinic atmosphere
  • Highly qualified and versatile therapist
  • Tailored, person-centered therapy
  • Seamless online booking and consultations
  • Free stress test and medication delivery
  • Supportive for English speakers

Cons

  • Occasional lapses in waiting area cleanliness

Welcoming atmosphere

“I didn’t do a treatment but the people are wonderful. Also doesn’t feel like a clinic, which I like.”

Attentive care

“Good presentation, good care from the staff, the doctor gave advice to the point, making me understand myself better.”

We’re pretty picky when it comes to recommending mental health support that actually understands its clients, but Unicorn Care by. Dr. Stephanie Garner really does things differently.

Dr. Stephanie’s spot, tucked away in The Trendy Office (super central and easy to get to), genuinely feels welcoming and safe.

And clients we talked to kept echoing the same thing: if you’re LGBTQI+, polyamorous, practicing CNM, or kink-involved, you’re not just “tolerated” here—you’re seen and understood.

Dr. Stephanie herself brings some serious credentials (based in Bangkok since 2012, an Australian Counselling Association member, and a UK/PhD background).

Furthermore, if you hate rigid hours, you’ll love their flexibility. Unicorn Care runs both in-person and online sessions, including evenings and weekends.

We also noticed that the pricing is clear, with a nice THB 500 discount for trans clients—a major plus for transparency! If there’s one ding, it’s that you absolutely have to book ahead, since they don’t accept walk-ins.

Pros

  • LGBTQI+, polyamory, and kink-specialized care
  • Inclusive, nonjudgmental environment
  • Experienced, highly qualified therapist
  • Flexible hours
  • Both in-person and online sessions
  • THB 500 discount for transgender clients
  • Convenient central location

Cons

  • By appointment only

Open-minded and supportive therapist

“Dr Stef is a wonderful, caring counsellor, open minded and professional. Great to have counseling in English. Anyone with issues with alternative lifestyles or relationships will feel completely at ease. Conveniently located in the Nana area, close to the BTS.”
