Pros
- Great 100-kilometre guarantee
- Flexible payment terms
- Offers reliable brands such as Honda and Yamaha
Cons
- Lack of variety in terms of motorcycle displacement and type
Zippy Motorbike Rentals is one of the most popular bike rental shops in Chiang Mai and it’s not hard to see why. They offer great services and some of the most reliable brands when it comes to their motorbikes so you can choose which ones you want to drive.
They mostly offer automatic scooters which we think is great as it will let you just drive and go without having to think of your clutch.
We also liked that their motorbikes are some of the most popular ones like Honda and Yamaha, something that shows their reliability in our books.
What’s most impressive about this shop, though, is their guarantee to their customers. They offer a mechanical guarantee within 100 kilometres of their shop and this is definitely a plus for us as it translates to peace of mind when riding within the area.
We were also impressed with their flexible pricing and that you can extend or shorten your bike rental depending on your needs and schedule. This is perfect as clients only pay for what they need, saving the hassle of adjusting payment terms with the shop.
We wish they had other bike types though, as your driving style might not be suited to automatic scooters. We think It would have been great if they had some underbones, manual, or semi-automatic bikes for rent just to give customers options.

Pros
- Great prices for lower displacement motorbikes
- Fantastic variety of bikes in terms of brand and driving style
- Regularly maintained bikes
Cons
- No free repair service on rented motorbikes is on offer
Mango Scooter Rental is a great scooter rental shop to check out if you’re looking to drive powerful and exciting bikes. Aside from automatic scooters, they have manual and semi-automatic ones making it easier to choose based on your driving style.
While their trusted name brands such as Honda and Yamaha caught our attention, we were impressed with the shop’s motorbike roster which includes higher displacement bikes and different clutch options.
This is crucial as bikes are not a one-size-fits-all affair- some want more horsepower while some want precision handling.
We were also surprised that they have some of the most affordable rates for scooter rentals with some going as low as 200 THB per day for a 110 cc bike. This is great value for money as you save tons on fare while using your rental bike to move around.
We also liked that they offer rider insurance in case any accidents happen. Their roadside assistance is also a big plus for us. This combo (insurance and assistance) will certainly give clients reassurance when driving around.
On the downside, we didn’t see any other after-sales maintenance or repairs on offer aside from their regular maintenance of the bikes.
We would have liked it better if they offered such additional services during the rental period to give their customers further assurance that their bikes are reliable and covered by the shop while using them.

Pros
- Affordable rates
- Great variety of motorbike drive types
- Good and reliable bike brands on offer
Cons
- No higher displacement bikes for rent
Bamboo Bikes is the ideal scooter rental shop if you want some great bike options. Here, clients can choose which motorbikes to go for based on how they want to travel around Chiang Mai – from chill rides to spirited driving!
We were impressed with the bikes on offer especially since they have different displacements and drive types on offer. They have higher horsepower bikes for those who want to go faster, and manual bikes for those looking for precision handling.
However, we would have liked it better if they offered options beyond their 155 cc bike (the N-Max 155). You might be looking for something more powerful like a 300 cc motorbike and if that’s the case, then this shop can’t give you that option.
Still, we liked that they only rent out reliable brands like Yamaha and Honda which is certainly a plus. These bikes are legendary when it comes to their quality build and will give you confidence as you drive them around Chiang Mai.
Their rate per day won’t break the bank either as a 110 cc scooter will only cost around 150 THB per day. Imagine going to different areas without having to pay more than 200 THB for a taxi or Grab car – it’s simply so cost-effective whichever way you look at it!

Pros
- Great and reliable brands for rent
- Roadside assistance in case of accidents
Cons
- Limited displacements and types of bikes on offer
If you’re looking to enjoy a chill ride just take in the sights and sounds of Chiang Mai, then Vanessa’s Motorbike Hire might be the ideal shop for you. It’s a no-frills shop that offers limited but reliable bikes – making the act of choosing your bike super simple!
They only have two kinds of bikes, automatic and semi-automatic, which we think is kind of limiting. Their displacements are also limited to just 125 cc ones which to us is an indication that their bikes aren’t for power but for a smooth and relaxing ride.
However, we liked that Vanessa’s Motorbike Hire only offers reliable and trusted brands such as Honda and Yamaha. This is definitely a plus for us as you can confidently traverse Chiang Mai without having to worry about possible mechanical issues.
Aside from these reliable brands, we also liked that they offer roadside assistance in case you get into any accidents.
We think this is great as it makes you feel like you have a friend you can rely on in case anything bad were to happen (we hope not, though!).
Lastly, their pricing isn’t too bad but it isn’t the best either with competitors offering a lot lower than 250 THB per day. Still, we think the daily rates are good enough for clients to save some money while driving around and enjoying what Chiang Mai has to offer.
5. TBR Toon’s Bike Rental

Pros
- Great selection of bikes with different displacements and drive types
- Reliable brands on offer
Cons
- Lower displacement models on offer aren’t the latest models
If variety and adventure are what you’re looking for, then you’ve got to look at what TBR Toon’s Bike Rental has to offer. They don’t just have great automatic scooters but they also have some big bikes for those who want some more horsepower when they travel.
We were pleased that their automatic scooters come in two of the most reliable brands there are – Honda and Yamaha.
Aside from the confidence brought about by these brands, you can also go for the higher displacement (160 cc vs 110 cc) if you want a more spirited drive which we think is awesome if you want more options in terms of bike horsepower.
We were also impressed that they have motorbikes for those who want something more powerful and more precise (especially when cornering) such as big road bikes and even manual motorcycles.
They have a V Strom 650 cc and a CB 500 cc bike if you’re planning to dominate the highways – both impressive and intimidating bikes, if you ask us.
With these more powerful and technologically advanced rides, you have the opportunity to enjoy Chiang Mai and speed through the area on a “land rocket!”
We would have liked it better though if their scooters were priced more competitively. Most competitors charge 250 THB per day for newer Honda Click models while this shop offers an older version of the same bike for the same price (250 THB).
