Bangkok’s Yellow Line MRT is a great addition to the public transportation system of the city which can take you to and from different destinations around the metro. However, they won’t just transport you but you’ll also find a ton of things to do along the MRT line.

You can wine, dine, and visit locations where you just relax or move about while taking in the sights and the views of the city. We’ve listed down some of the things you can do along this Yellow MRT line of Bangkok so you can try them out for yourself!

Visit the King Rama IX Park

You might not expect to appreciate the beauty of nature when in Bangkok or while travelling along the Yellow Line MRT. However, King Rama IX Park will let you do just that– take in the tranquil and breathtaking views of mother nature inside its grounds!

It’s Bangkok’s largest public park and there are a lot of enjoyable activities for you to do here while you’re onsite. 

Some of these include jogging, cycling or even just walking around the park to take in the beauty of the surroundings and the man-made structures dotting the park. If you get too tired, you can also chill out in one of the many picnic spots here.


If you have young kids with you, they’ll also have a blast riding the mini train that goes around the park grounds. There are also some swan pedalos if you want to have some fun under the sun while riding around the lake.

  • Nature lovers will have a field day at King Rama IX Park thanks to the various fauna it features. You can take in the beauty of these different gardens made to look like French, Italian, Chinese, and American-inspired gardens.

Paradise Park Mall is one of those locations that will remind you of just how amazing the urban jungle of Bangkok is. This is one of the best locations you can visit coming from the Yellow MRT Line as it’s just a 5-minute walk away from the station.

Satisfy your need for shopping as there are over 700 stores and shops that sell items such as home decor, wellness, food, and gadgets. If you don’t feel like shopping, you can also just relax and watch a movie in the mall’s Cineplex which features 3D screens.

You’ll also love how the mall is designed to look modern yet still in tune with nature. The architecture of the building itself may be minimalist but as you walk across Paradise Park Mall, you’ll see that each floor has a bit of a garden theme to them – truly relaxing!

Local tip:

  • It’s not as popular as Siam Paragon or Central World Mall but Paradise Park Mall has more open spaces inside its building. Here, you can choose to shop or just do some window shopping as you stroll from one store to the next. 

Score some great finds at the Srinagarindra Train Night Market

You’ll find this impressive night market right behind Beacon Square and if you’re willing to do a bit of exploring, you might find some great items for cheap! 

The market sells some of the more common food items and trinkets just like other locations but if you look closely, it has an ace up its sleeve – its vintage section which caters more to the local’s tastes. 

Sure, you can still buy food items, souvenirs, and clothes here as well but you certainly don’t want to miss the unique antiques and rare trinkets on sale here. These are mostly local items that can give you a sneak peek into the daily lives of Thais.

Local tip:

  • You can check out the Facebook page of the Srinagarindra Train Night Market to find out if there are any special events during your visit. There are a number of them throughout the year featuring hotrods, bikes, and muscle cars.

Look your Sunday best at HOP – Hub of Photography

It’s normal for people to want to have their photos taken as they are an important part of one’s fond memories if ever you want to look back. That’s why it’s no longer surprising that HOP – Hub of Photography has been so successful with what it does.

You can check out its exhibition and displayed artworks at Seacon Square and with the variety you’ll see here, you definitely won’t get bored. These exhibitions are actually there to support Thai photographers and to further foster the growth of their community. 

What’s so special about this exhibit though, is how each gallery evokes certain emotions and moods depending on the artist who worked on the featured photos. It’ll be up to you to interpret and understand the message behind their works!

  • You can also learn a thing or two about photography at the HOP – Hub of Photography thanks to the free library being offered at this location. Read some books or articles if you want to further enhance your photography skills!

This warehouse of sorts is just an 11-minute walk from the Yellow MRT Line’s Samrong Station and it’s something you need to see for yourself if you’re on the hunt for various electronics and other oddities. Lucky Home is simply a treasure hunter’s dream!

Most of the devices sold here are imported straight from Japan and you’ll see some old-school gadgets that might strike your fancy. You can choose from music CDs, VHS tapes, vinyl, and laser discs.

If you’re into photography there’s also a separate section that sells anything and everything related to cameras – from spare parts to camera accessories. You name it, and they probably have it!

Music lovers will also like it here as you can check out and buy some of the most affordable but high-quality electric guitars from Lucky Home. If you want a little more challenge, then join the store’s Friday auctions and duke it out with other bidders!

Local tip:

  • Keep in mind that the store does not have a return policy. As such, you need to have a keen eye for whatever it is you pick up and make sure that it (at least visually) looks okay and functional.

  • The cafe opens at 10:00 AM  making it an ideal spot to have brunch. Once done, you can then order some of their cold or hot beverages depending on your mood and preference.

The Messengerservice Bar may seem a bit far if you check it out on Google Maps – that is until now! If you’re a cocktail enthusiast, this is your chance to check out the unique drinks offered by this bar as it’s now just a few minutes away from Huamark Station.

You can check out the different drinks this bar offers. We recommend trying their gimlet made using palo santo, bergamot, and wild honey and their signature Brown Butter created using some Parmesan cheese, hot sauce, Macadamia, and banana.

The best thing about this location is that their cocktails are also quite customisable with over 3,500 different kinds that you can further modify based on your mood and personal preferences!

Local tip:

  • Aside from the different kinds of ingredients and cocktail formulas, you can order from this bar, you also have the option to try out the different preparation methods that this bar offers.

Ask the bartender and try out their drinks that have either been distilled, infused, or fat-washed.

This coffee shop is a location that you need to see and visit if you want an establishment with heart!

If you’re into supporting local businesses then you’d be pleased to know that MiVana Coffee Flagship Store started as a project to raise consciousness in terms of forest conservation and the local economy. 

It became successful enough and grew to the point where you can now try out their coffee and enjoy the ambiance offered by the shop. It’s near Luang Rama IX Station and you can sample some of their offerings if you take the Yellow MRT line.

Aside from their specialty coffee blends, you can also relax and take in the view of the coffee shop as the surrounding area was designed to look like a mini forest. Check out their delicious brews as you feast on some of their sweet treats as well.

Local tip:

  • If you or your friends plan to hang out at this cafe with some pets, then there’s no need to worry! This coffee shop is pet-friendly and can accommodate pets if you decide to bring some.

We recommend staying in the outdoor seating of the cafe to give your pets the opportunity to move around the beautiful grounds on location.

Drink to your heart’s content at Underdog Micro Brewery

Underdog Micro Brewery is located just a few minutes away from Si Thepa Station in Samut Prakan and if you’re into craft beers, then this is the place to be! The brewery has some of the best selections of craft beers that are self-served via their beer tap.

We recommend asking staff what their best-selling craft beers are. You can then just grab your beer mug and proceed to the tap stations to fill it up with the craft beer of your choice – bottoms up!

Local tip:

  • If you plan on visiting this brewery, we recommend doing so on an empty stomach. They have some of the best wursts available in the area and it’s perfectly paired with their selection of craft beers!

Feast on some seafood at Tid Koh Talay Pao

Here, you can try out a variety of fresh seafood dishes such as squid, oysters, crabs, and grilled river prawns among others. Plus, there’s no time limit so you can be sure to enjoy each and every bite of the food items being offered here.

Local tip:

  • Locals love Tid Koh Talay Pao and meal times can get a bit hectic. As such, we recommend coming a bit early to get seats ahead of other patrons.

We also suggest trying out their chilli and lime squid if you want to treat your tastebuds to something unique.

  • The best part about visiting the Piti Bar is that the entrance is free of charge. However, it’s required that you at least buy a drink in order to enjoy what the bar has to offer.

The activities for you to try out along the Yellow MRT Line in Bangko aren’t just about food and drinks. At the Rock Domain Climbing Gym, you can go all out and do something physically challenging– try out some indoor and outdoor rock climbing!

What we liked about this gym is that they offer advanced rock climbing courses along with some rock surfaces designed for beginners and hobbyists. You can just walk from Si Lam Station to get to this location and experience the thrill this site has to offer.

  • All the gear you need to do some rock climbing is available onsite. You can either buy or rent this equipment depending on the type of climb you plan to avail.
