7 Assisted Living Facilities in Thailand that Feels Like Home
Let’s rip off the band-aid— it’s not a secret that as our loved ones grow older, they become more challenging to take care of. Don’t worry, this is a safe space and we’re not judging!
This is why some people (us included) opt to take them to assisted living facilities instead. It’s not a matter of neglect, but a decision to provide them with the best quality care they could get at their age.
With that being said, we didn’t just choose an assisted living facility haphazardly. We did our research and eventually landed on a place we’re glad to call our loved ones’ home during their golden years.
If you’re going to make the same decision soon, we’ve compiled some of the places we saw that you could find interesting. We’ve also included their highlights and lowlights to help you weigh your options more easily!
1. Vivobene Village
Highlights: Medical appointments, 24-hour first aid service, toileting assistance/continence management
Location: 164 Thanon Santiphap, Pom Prap, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok 10100, Thailand

When it comes to being well-equipped for assisted living services, Vivobene Village belongs among the cream of the crop. For starters, we were impressed that this facility features over 80 premium resort-like rooms that come complete with air-conditioning and other amenities.
We were floored when we also saw how beautiful their outdoor pool was. We could just imagine just how much fun and relaxation their assisted living residents can experience just by spending the day outside.
Though, we think that the main highlight of choosing this place is the quality of care services they offer. These services come in the form of packages, which kind of work like subscription tiers, with each one varying in services included and price points.
These packages include everyday assistance such as laundry, medical appointments, 24-hour first-aid services, etc. Meanwhile, they offer specialised packages for those who require a bit more care, which include services like dementia behaviour support, 24-hour nurse, and more.
If there was something missing from this place, it would be the events and celebrations they could hold throughout the year. We think engagement is a huge component of improving an elderly’s quality of life, so having these things to look forward to is a must.
Pros
- Luxury resort vibes
- Passionate caregivers and nurses
- Great selection of facilities
Cons
- Lack of events and celebrations
One of the better senior residences
“One of the better senior residences we have visited. Most places are wheelchair accessible. Apparently, universal design concepts have been adopted. The nurses were friendly. The surroundings were quite well-kept. No pets.”

Beautiful haven in the middle of nowhere
“A beautiful haven in the middle of nowhere. My wife and I come here for the bakery and occasional restaurant promotions. You’ll be blown away by the Bakery, real croissants (light and flaky) and bread worthy of New York’s finest. 25 minutes from Maejo, Chiang Mai. Comfortable seating either in or out.”

Located amidst a beautiful lush garden is Ban Sabai, which is a resort/nursing home that offers quality assisted living facilities for seniors. It’s one of the most serene retirement places on this list and Thailand, in general, which we see being appreciated by their residents.
Ban Sabai spoils their residents by providing amazing facilities, one of which is the outdoor pool, which is perfect for cooling down during a hot summer day in Thailand. It’s also a great spot for the elderly to stay active without having to do some strenuous activities.
The place also features an in-house restaurant, which virtually guarantees that your elderly loved ones will be eating well every single day! It’s even highlighted by those who are just visiting the resort for a nice vacation.
Furthermore, they also have on-site nurses who can provide both soft and close care services, the latter of which are designated for those with illnesses. We also appreciated that they offer specialised services for those who suffer from dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The only problem we noticed was that some areas of the resort aren’t well-maintained. We’re not alone with this as well, as a handful of previous visitors also noted during our surveys that they encountered unclean areas on the retirement home’s premises.
Pros
- 24/7 on-site nurses
- Rehabilitation facilities and programs
- Solid selection of services and activities
Cons
- Reports of uncleanliness in certain areas
I’d give this place 100 stars
“Without hesitation, I’d give this place 100!!! I don’t even know where to begin. From the moment I arrived, I knew it was different than anywhere that I had been previously. I was greeted at the airport by the owners, which was very comforting, upon arrival to a city where you’ve never been.
And when I arrived at the resort, I was again, greeted by the staff. The setting is absolutely beautiful and serene. I chose the 7-day detox/cleanse package.
Every day was perfectly planned out and well-organized, with plenty of the day left for personal time, as well. And each day there was a bodywork session, as part of the program. The meditation and yoga were just icing on the cake. I won’t divulge all the details, as to leave you with an element of surprise, but….WOW! I met all of the other guests at some point throughout the week, and every single one of them was equally as impressed as I was.
The staff was exceptionally courteous and attentive and made me feel like royalty. And although I wasn’t consuming anything other than liquid for 6 days, when I was able to eat, I was highly impressed! I would like to make a special mention of Joy. She was basically my personal assistant for the entire stay. Such a hard worker and light in this world (hence the name).
“L” and Matthias, you TRULY have built something special here. 20 years of doing what you love, is something that not everyone has in this life. I have already recommended this gem to my friends and family and will continue to do so. I’m leaving feeling refreshed and restored (and even a little lighter…haha). Khoob-khun”

Great value for cost
“We stayed with Ban Sabai in June 2016. We spent one night here and the rest of our time at a hotel downtown. The view from our room was beautiful! We sat by the pool, ate at the restaurant, and got massages in the morning.
The pool was very relaxing (only two other people were staying at the same time as us), the food was fresh and delicious, and the massages were amazing! Customer service was also great. It wasn’t the fanciest hotel we’ve ever stayed at, but was a great value for the reasonable cost.
We wished we would have stayed two nights as this was probably the most relaxing part of our trip to Chiang Mai. The only thing I think could have been improved was more frequent pool cleanings. There were lots of bugs and debris in the pool. Part of this is due to the fact that there are such lush gardens around, so I say the trade-off is worth it!”

Located in the city of Chiang Mai, Care Resort is a great staycation spot that doubles as a home for the elderly. This means that whichever amenity and facility vacation-goers will be treated to can be enjoyed by the assisted living residents 24/7.
It’s also quite a looker, with its luxurious resort vibes, which is evident from its individual rooms down to its facilities. Speaking of rooms, the ones they feature here are all lavish, giving their residents a royalty treatment with an abundance of modern amenities like AC, TVs, and more.
We also appreciate how they offer both close care and independent living with care for their guests so that they can cater to residents with different needs. Both of these care services come with in-house nursing and care support, and they also offer special care for dementia patients.
One of the things that secured our confidence in this assisted living facility is its daily check-up routine. Each day, they would take their residents and do a routine health visit to closely monitor their status and avoid any kinds of complications.
We also love how they offer a myriad of activities to keep their residents busy and active throughout the year. Some of their activities include creating arts and crafts, pond fishing and outdoor excursions to give their residents a much-needed breath of fresh air.
Of course, the only downside to having a luxurious facility like this is its steep prices. It’s not something that anyone can afford, so we can see it being a red flag for some people.
Pros
- Hotel-like rooms
- Premium facilities
- Features numerous activities
Cons
- Expensive rates
Absolutely gorgeous
“This is a place of timeless beauty. It offers tranquillity, a community of quality care and great good cheer with a twist of sweetness and an unforgettable sense of Thai-ness. And too, out of the kitchen comes well-prepared and tasty food!”

Right off the bat, Baan Lalisa immediately caught our attention because it claimed to be the best nursing home in the country. After close research and a singular ocular visit, it’s safe to say that they have a strong case to back this claim.
For starters, entering its doors felt like a portal to a paradise, as it’s a beautiful premium resort equipped with a gorgeous outdoor pool and spacious villas. Plus, with stunning lush greenery as its backdrop, it’s not hard to fall into a serene state while you’re here.
The villas are equipped with everything a resident may need for a comfortable stay and more! They also have a fitness centre on their premises to allow residents to stay active and healthy throughout the year.
Aside from its facilities, we also loved how this assisted-living facility featured several services to cater to residents who require different kinds of care. For instance, they offer specialised care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc., involving around-the-clock nurses and more.
Our only gripe with this place is its steep price, which we already expected when we first saw it with our own eyes. Still, we wish that they could make their prices a bit more friendly to locals than those from outside Thailand who can easily afford them.
Pros
- Opportunities for different activities
- Premium villas
- Special care for special needs
Cons
- Expensive

Homerly International Senior Living is another option that we highly recommend to those who want their elderly loved ones to be pampered during their golden years. It’s one of those places where it feels more like a resort than an assisted living facility, with its stunning outdoor pool.
Furthermore, the rooms are also decked out with modern amenities that you’d typically find in various classy hotels in the city. These aren’t just for the luxury of things, however, as they ensure that the elderly and those with disabilities are living comfortably.
Moreover, Homerly is also equipped with 24-hour care, registered nurses, therapists, and all the right medical equipment and tools to make sure that their residents are in tip-top shape.
What we love the most about this assisted living facility is its effort to arrange events and celebrations throughout the year. These celebrations involve huge and happy gatherings that feature fun activities and huge feasts.
The overall place itself features this laid-back vibe as well. Plus, being surrounded by lush greeneries does immediately help with setting a relaxing vibe for the elderly to enjoy.
The only downside to having a paradise-like home such as this is the steep price that comes with it, which is the only downside with choosing this as a retirement home. We would’ve loved it if they could make their price range or include options that are a bit more accessible to everyone.
Pros
- Luxurious facilities and rooms
- Variety of celebrations throughout the year
- 24-hour care
- Impressive team of registered nurses
Cons
- Pricey rates
Villas are spacious and well-maintained
“My brother has been at Homerly for over two years. He is well cared for, the staff are very attentive and there are plenty of activities arranged for most days. The apartments and villas are spacious and well-maintained. The on-site restaurant provides a good selection of meals for both residents and visitors alike”
Phil Knott, Google Review
Homerly has established itself in the market as a provider of quality care
“Care and attention to residents’ needs are the cornerstones that make Homerly a safe, enjoyable, beautiful Care Resort for the elderly. As the resort grows and more residents join in the future, the Homerly team can differentiate activities to meet the needs and interests of the increasingly diverse group of residents. In short, Homerly has established itself in the market as a provider of quality care and services for residents. With management’s customer-focused approach and attentive, caring staff, the Care Resort will continue to improve and establish new industry best practice standards for quality elderly care in Thailand. Well done to everyone in the Homerly Team. Keep up the good work!”

It’s easy to mistake Carewell Service as a resort because of its beautiful outdoor pools, villa-like rooms and tropical location. It sits near the beach so the residents can easily get a breath of fresh air and cool down in just a couple of minutes.
Aside from spoiling their residents with lavish amenities, what we love the most about this place is their extensive selection of services. We want to highlight their assisted living service in particular, as they do things quite differently.
For starters, we discovered that seniors will be taken care of in one of their villas while providing them with everything they need. At the same time, they’ll also step in when needed to provide aid while giving them their independence at the same time.
The only things we didn’t like about this place were the less than stellar customer service and pricey rates. We had to message them a couple of times to get a reply and when we did get a response, we found their message confusing and had to follow up for clarification.
If you can look past both these factors, however, it’s not rocket science to see that the good outweighs the bad. From its premium amenities to its 24/7 personal support, this assisted living facility is easily among the best in Thailand.
Pros
- Solid selection of services
- 24/7 personal care
- Premium rooms
- Vibrant culture
Cons
- Difficult to reach and communicate with
- Pricey rates
A one-of-a-kind miracle solution for our dad
“I think about Carewell with great fondness, always, as a one-of-a-kind miracle solution for our Dad who passed away this year.
As he descended into dementia he was increasingly agitated, scared, and so vulnerable (resorting to hitting staff at his previous homes) before we left him at Carewell. Carewell calmed him. He felt safe and was always comforted by reassuring caregivers that he learned to trust given the dedicated staff as opposed to the high turnover rates at the senior facilities in the US.
Carewell restored his dignity, allowed him simple things like his beloved daily naps (monitored to prevent the fall risk by a sweet caregiver always waiting nearby) and provided a sense of community and socialization with real parties and outings.
While he couldn’t participate coherently, you could tell that he very much enjoyed the routine and the Carewell staff was able to understand his preferences. He lived his best life in Carewell.”

I am very grateful for Carewell’s support
“My father died on Sunday. Even though he didn’t live with Carewell – my mother is there – Carewell took care of everything lovingly. Several guests and attendants attended the cremation this morning at the temple.
Everything was lovingly decorated with flowers. Because of the distance, I couldn’t be there, but I had the feeling that my father wasn’t walking the final journey alone.
I am very grateful for Carewell’s support and for the very personal, loving resignation. Carewell was the best retirement decision for my parents.
Thank you all”

Golden Years Hospital was one of the first places we checked out during our search for the best assisted living facilities in Thailand because it’s located in Bangkok. Naturally, we took a closer look and we’ve got to say, we’re quite impressed with their services!
One of the things we love about this place is that it’s a hospital through and through, which means that it’s equipped with all the medical facilities that a resident may need during their stay. Also, we loved the fact that they offer 24/7 nursing and doctor assistance.
Another thing we appreciate about this place is that they regularly arrange outings for their residents, which are sort of like field trips. This gave us the impression that they know that taking care of the elderly goes beyond the four walls of their hospital—a huge A+ in our books.
If we were to nitpick something we didn’t like, however, it would be the overall state of the place. As previously mentioned, this place is more like a hospital as opposed to the resort-like retirement homes included on this list.
It doesn’t have a pool or any other fancy facility, but we think that it’s made up for by the quality of care that they provide their residents.
Pros
- Arranges regular outings
- Accessible location
- Complete medical facilities
- Reasonable prices
Cons
- Traditional hospital setting
- Lack of facilities for pampering
You can trust Golden Years to care for your loved ones
“I had an excellent experience. You can trust Golden Years to care for your loved ones. The staff took wonderful care of my 94-year-old mother when we wanted to get away from a cold winter in Connecticut and I needed a breather. The ambulance met us at the airport and made everything easy. The nursing team are dedicated and friendly and treats the elderly with the respect that they deserve. The front office team are easy to deal with and very helpful. The roof garden is relaxing. The facility is only a few minutes away from the MRT line, so you can get to the main business areas in town in only fifteen or twenty minutes.”

The treatment cost is very affordable
“Golden Years Hospital is the best medical facility for elderly care! The staff there offer help with a smiley face. The doctors, nurses and the rehabilitation team are very kind and active. The food there is healthful and delicious. My grandpa lives there happily and his health has improved significantly. He moves much better and has better body stability. The treatment cost is very affordable! Thank you very much, Golden Years!”
