5 Memory Care Facilities in Thailand that Offer Unparalleled Services
Seeing your loved ones’ memories slowly deteriorate is one of the saddest things you can experience in your life. It’s something that several families are facing, and when my friend’s dad started to show signs of dementia, I realised that outside help is just as important.
This gave me the idea of creating this list, as my friend and I set out to find Thailand’s top memory care facilities. To our surprise, we found out that there are a couple of places in the country that offer special quality care for people suffering from memory loss.
If you’re living with someone who suffers from the same problem, we’ve got you covered! We’ve listed down some of the best memory care facilities in Thailand along with their respective pros and cons.

Ban Sabai is one of the most tranquil places you can take your loved ones to if they’re starting to show signs of cognitive decline. It’s located within a beautiful nature setting that consists of lush gardens and greeneries—a setting that can provide peace and relaxation to its residents.
One of the things that Ban Sabai does best is its specialised care services for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related illnesses. They offer intensive care to make sure that their residents are aided, from walking to eating, sleeping and anything in between.
For severe cases, they also offer something called “full care,” which involves one-to-one 24-hour supervision from one of the on-site nurses. What’s great is that these packages are flexible, meaning you can either upgrade or downgrade the levels of care based on the conditions.
We also love how premium quality care is paired with equally premium facilities as well like the gorgeous outdoor swimming pool and the fitness centre. These facilities both contribute to the relaxation and overall health condition of the residents.
Our only gripe with this place is that some places in the common areas are quite unclean, which we could see throwing off some people who are doing oculars. Nonetheless, it’s still a solid option.
Pros
- Specialised care for Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related patients
- Rehabilitation programs
- Great selection of activities
Cons
- Reports of uncleanliness in certain areas
Great value for cost
“We stayed with Ban Sabai in June 2016. We spent one night here and the rest of our time at a hotel downtown. The view from our room was beautiful! We sat by the pool, ate at the restaurant, and got massages in the morning.
The pool was very relaxing (only two other people were staying at the same time as us), the food was fresh and delicious, and the massages were amazing! Customer service was also great. It wasn’t the fanciest hotel we’ve ever stayed at, but was a great value for the reasonable cost.
We wished we would have stayed two nights as this was probably the most relaxing part of our trip to Chiang Mai. The only thing I think could have been improved was more frequent pool cleanings. There were lots of bugs and debris in the pool. Part of this is due to the fact that there are such lush gardens around, so I say the trade-off is worth it!”

I’d give this place 100 stars
“Without hesitation, I’d give this place 100!!! I don’t even know where to begin. From the moment I arrived, I knew it was different than anywhere that I had been previously. I was greeted at the airport by the owners, which was very comforting, upon arrival to a city where you’ve never been.
And when I arrived at the resort, I was again, greeted by the staff. The setting is absolutely beautiful and serene. I chose the 7-day detox/cleanse package.
Every day was perfectly planned out and well-organized, with plenty of the day left for personal time, as well. And each day there was a bodywork session, as part of the program. The meditation and yoga were just icing on the cake. I won’t divulge all the details, as to leave you with an element of surprise, but….WOW! I met all of the other guests at some point throughout the week, and every single one of them was equally as impressed as I was.
The staff was exceptionally courteous and attentive and made me feel like royalty. And although I wasn’t consuming anything other than liquid for 6 days, when I was able to eat, I was highly impressed! I would like to make a special mention of Joy. She was basically my personal assistant for the entire stay. Such a hard worker and light in this world (hence the name).
“L” and Matthias, you TRULY have built something special here. 20 years of doing what you love, is something that not everyone has in this life. I have already recommended this gem to my friends and family and will continue to do so. I’m leaving feeling refreshed and restored (and even a little lighter…haha). Khoob-khun”

If you’re looking for a place where your loved ones can enjoy a lavish lifestyle while recovering, then Care Resort Chiang Mai should be right up your alley! It’s a resort that doubles as a retirement home that offers specialised care for patients with dementia-related illnesses.
Through closer inspection, we discovered that they’re able to care for these patients through their dedicated and passionate team of nurses who provide 24-hour care. We also appreciate that they feature 2 boutique facilities dedicated to memory care residents.
These facilities/suites feature comfy beds, TVs, en-suite bathrooms and other modern amenities to make sure that they’re comfortable 24/7. They also feature recreational facilities to make sure that their residents are getting their daily dose of joy and exercise, which we highly appreciate.
Furthermore, we love how they arrange local excursions from time to time to allow their residents to go outside and admire their surroundings. This gives us the impression that they know that people with dementia also need a break from the four walls of their facility.
The only problem with having a retirement home as premium as this is that it’s expensive! We get that it’s cheaper compared to other countries, but we can’t help but wish that the prices are made for local families as well.
Pros
- Premium suites and facilities
- 24-hour nurse care
- Arranges fun events and local excursions
Cons
- Expensive
Absolutely gorgeous
“This place is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful landscaping, big fish pond, nice pool. Spotless, spacious bungalows. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Had to edit my review… Went to take a shower, no hot water. I called, and within minutes a young man showed up to find and fix the problem. This is so far the best resort I’ve stayed at in Thailand. Highly recommend. Also, the restaurant has really good food.”

Vivobene Village is a great retirement home/assisted living facility that we highly recommend for those looking to know what they’re paying for. This place features different kinds of packages with varying inclusions, making it easy for potential customers to finalise their budgets.
For specific memory care, we recommend opting for either comfort, intensive or permanent care. You can weigh their differences and make your decision based on the situation of your loved ones, as the more expensive packages feature more assistance.
These care and assistance services are courtesy of their talented team of professional nurses and caregivers. They work around the clock to make sure that they can keep an eye on the patients 24/7 and from careful observation, which greatly improves the residents’ quality of life.
Another thing about this place that puts a smile on our faces is its selection of recreational facilities like its outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre. We love seeing the elderly using these things, as it gives them joy and a chance to get fit at the same time.
If we were to nitpick something we didn’t like about this place, however, it would be the activities or the lack thereof. We felt that they weren’t putting enough resources into arranging events and celebrations that the residents could look forward to throughout the year.
It’s not something that anyone would find important, but we thought that it’s worth mentioning here. Nonetheless, we still see Vivobene Village as a reliable home that offers memory care services.
Pros
- An amazing team of nurses and caregivers
- Features facilities like swimming pools, fitness centres, etc.
Cons
- Lack of activities throughout the year
One of the better senior residences
“One of the better senior residences we have visited. Most places are wheelchair accessible. Apparently, universal design concepts have been adopted. The nurses were friendly. The surroundings were quite well-kept. No pets.”

Many services for elderly people
“Beautiful resort in the country. The rooms are comfortable and the staff accommodating but sometimes a bit slow. There are daily shuttles into town, which is good because it’s a 45-minute drive into the town centre. It seems to be a retirement village as well, with a wheelchair-accessible pool and many services for elderly people. The restaurant has good food with decent prices for a resort.”

It’s not hard to fall in love with Baan Lalisa at first glance because it looks like your typical 5-star resort rather than a gloomy retirement home. Well, this is because it IS a resort—complete with lavish suites, rooms and facilities including a breathtaking outdoor swimming pool!
We’re not ones who base our opinions on looks, however. So, we decided to dive deeper and it’s safe to say that it is more than just a looker.
We saw patients having a wonderful time during their recovery here because it features all the amenities they need for a comfy stay.
We also appreciate how the place offers specialised care for people who require extra assistance and attention, such as those with dementia. They do this by providing close care courtesy of their many talented caregivers, nurses and doctors.
Another thing we like about Baan Lalisa is they provide daily physical therapy and a personalised nutritional plan for each patient. This further cemented our confidence in their services, as it gave us the impression that they individualise their residents.
The only problem with having all these luxuries and perks is, of course, the price. Some may say that you’ll be getting your money’s worth but personally, we think that it’s a bit too pricey for our liking.
Pros
- Complete set of facilities
- Talented medical team
- Specialised treatments for dementia patients
Cons
- Pricey rates

Homerly International Senior Living offers an elevated version of your typical retirement home, featuring resort-like suites and facilities. Seeing it in person gave us confidence that they’re able to provide their dementia patients with the utmost comfort.
We love how Homerly offers different levels of care for patients with different needs. For instance, residents with dementia-related cases are advised to receive intensive care, which is the highest level of care that their health professionals can provide.
This level of care features major perks like weekly physician visits, 24/7 assistance, medication coordination and everything else that a patient with chronic illnesses may need.
Another benefit worth highlighting is they provide delicious nutritious meals every day, which are all prepared in-house by their world-class chef. We also appreciate how they provide fresh fruits from their farm as well!
One thing we wish they could improve is their customer service. We found them to be quite unresponsive on their online channels, and a handful of their previous clients share the same sentiment.
Also, we wish that they could lower the price a bit more to cater to locals rather than foreigners who are looking to retire in Thailand because of its cheap prices. We want to say, however, that it’s money well-spent, as Homerly provides quality care and premium facilities overall.
Pros
- Amazing intensive care package
- Delicious and nutritious meals
- Laid-back ambience and luxurious amenities
Cons
- Pricey rates
- Can be unresponsive at times
A provider of quality care and services
“Care and attention to residents’ needs are the cornerstones that make Homerly a safe, enjoyable, beautiful Care Resort for the elderly. As the resort grows and more residents join in the future, the Homerly team can differentiate activities to meet the needs and interests of the increasingly diverse group of residents.
In short, Homerly has established itself in the market as a provider of quality care and services for residents. With management’s customer-focused approach and attentive, caring staff, the Care Resort will continue to improve and establish new industry best practice standards for quality elderly care in Thailand. Well done to everyone in the Homerly Team. Keep up the good work!”

Plenty of activities are arranged for most days
“My brother has been at Homerly for over two years.
He is well cared for, the staff are very attentive and there are plenty of activities arranged for most days.
The apartments and villas are spacious and well-maintained. The on-site restaurant provides a good selection of meals for both residents and visitors alike.”
