Care Resort Chiang Mai immediately caught our attention because we’d heard about it before when we were looking for resorts. As fate may have it, we were surprised to find out that it’s also one of the most lavish retirement facilities in the country!
Starting with the rooms where the retirees will stay, they’re like luxurious villas that you’d typically see in beachside resorts. We’ve got to be honest, seeing this does put a smile on our faces knowing that our elderly loved ones or us in the future will have a nice place to stay in.
What we love about this place the most is that it offers special care dedicated to the elderly who are suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. They provide 24-hour care, courtesy of their professional and patient caregivers as well as their own space, complete with TVs!
Of course, the higher price point is the downside to having these types of luxuries. We can see this being a dealbreaker for some or even most people since it’s not something that you can just look past over.
As for its location, it’s sort of a double-edged sword in our opinion. On one side, it’s nice that it’s located away from the hustle and bustle of the city but at the same time, it’s not as accessible, especially if you’re coming from Bangkok.
Pros
- Luxurious facilities
- Spacious rooms
- Offers various activities
Cons
- Expensive pricing
- Far away from Bangkok
Absolutely gorgeous
“This place is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful landscaping, big fish pond, nice pool. Spotless, spacious bungalows. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Had to edit my review… Went to take a shower, no hot water. I called, and within minutes a young man showed up to find and fix the problem. This is so far the best resort I’ve stayed at in Thailand. Highly recommend. Also, the restaurant has really good food.”

Baan Lalisa is another premier nursing home in Thailand that provides its residents with a lavish place to retire. If you didn’t know that it was a retirement home, you’d easily think that this is a 5-star resort akin to establishments like Shangri-La—even I’m guilty of this!
One of the things we loved about this retirement home is its tight-knit community, which aims to keep its residents as active as they can be! It also helps that the place itself is equipped with various facilities like its state-of-the-art swimming pool to make these activities possible.
Furthermore, there’s an accessible fitness centre on the home’s premises to keep their retirees up and moving. At first, we were a bit sceptical of this since it can be hazardous for their age to be doing strenuous activity, but we were relieved to find out that they offer extensive support.
This support comes in courtesy of their professional caregivers who work on the clock to make sure that they’re able to assist 24/7. We also appreciated how dedicated these people were to providing the elderly with a meaningful life by creating a strong bond between them.
The only downside with this place is the price. It is money well-spent, however, as you’re virtually paying for all the lavish facilities, rooms, amenities and professional services that they’re offering.
Pros
- Premier suites
- Beautiful surroundings
- Specialised treatments
Cons
- Pricey rates

Homerly International Senior Living instantly caught our attention because outfits hotel room-like suites. They offer three different rooms, namely: the deluxe suite, the private villa and the master suite, all of which come with everything that a guest needs for a comfy stay.
One of the things they do that stood out to us is that they don’t shy away from throwing events and celebrations for their residents, which we found absolutely adorable. We think that it’s great to have these events, as it gives the residents something to look forward to.
These events aren’t just simple gatherings too, as they often involve large feasts and fun social activities to keep the elderly happy and active at the same time.
The main highlight of choosing this place, however, is the quality of care they provide to those who crave different needs. For instance, they feature something called assisted living where they offer their residents a weekly physician visit, a personalised care plan and more.
Meanwhile, young retirees can enjoy the independent living package, where they can spend their golden years in the comfort of this place’s luxuries. They can get fresh fruits from the farm, a weekly physician visit, medication coordination and more!
Our only gripe with this place is that it’s a bit too pricey for our liking. Furthermore, we found that their channels can be a bit unresponsive at times, which may be because of the traffic of inquiries they get per day.
Pros
- Offers multiple packages for different kinds of care
- Clean and well-maintained rooms
- Regular events and celebrations
Cons
- Pricey rates
- Reports of unresponsiveness in online channels
A provider of quality care and services
“Care and attention to residents’ needs are the cornerstones that make Homerly a safe, enjoyable, beautiful Care Resort for the elderly. As the resort grows and more residents join in the future, the Homerly team can differentiate activities to meet the needs and interests of the increasingly diverse group of residents.
In short, Homerly has established itself in the market as a provider of quality care and services for residents. With management’s customer-focused approach and attentive, caring staff, the Care Resort will continue to improve and establish new industry best practice standards for quality elderly care in Thailand. Well done to everyone in the Homerly Team. Keep up the good work!”

Plenty of activities are arranged for most days
“My brother has been at Homerly for over two years.
He is well cared for, the staff are very attentive and there are plenty of activities arranged for most days.
The apartments and villas are spacious and well-maintained. The on-site restaurant provides a good selection of meals for both residents and visitors alike.”

We were immediately captivated by Carewell Service as soon as we laid eyes on its retirement home. We were confused whether or not we were looking at the home itself or the resort because it does look and feel like a place where you’d go on a vacation.
For starters, it’s located by the beach so its retirees can enjoy the sea anytime they want. Plus, they’ll get to be surrounded by beautiful panoramic views 24/7 during their residency.
It’s more than just a looker though, as the retirement home features a complete array of amenities and facilities that either keep its guests busy or comfortable.
We also love how they offer a wide variety of special care and services for people with different needs. These services include rehabilitation, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, assisted living medical care and more.
As for the things we didn’t like, we could only name two. Firstly, we felt that their customer service via phone and online channels could use some improvements because they’re unresponsive and couldn’t communicate clearly when we did reach them.
Furthermore, the prices are a bit too high for our liking. However, we can see this being a great option for those who have the money to spend, as their residents are quite enjoying a resort-like lifestyle.
Pros
- 24/7 personal care
- Wide variety of services
- Resort-like rooms and facilities
Cons
- Reports of unresponsiveness
- Unclear rules
- Pricey rates
A truly inspiring place
“I am really impressed with Carewell, impressed with the professional care, management and passion. The uniqueness and astounding about Carewell is its Vision, which most Retirement and Service Providers lack.
The Vision is as well the ground foundation of what they are doing treating their guest and how the staff’s mentality is shaped.
I saw a few comments about management and the price etc, but who cares, because the whole staff as well the management there is always busy to keep their current guest happy, healthy and they are determined to turn every day of their guest into a memorable day.
If you look for a care home for a family member, the most important thing is to focus how your loved ones would be treated and nothing else. And if you truly spend some time at Carewell, you will understand that none of the other care homes are coming near this please in reference to balancing passion, vision and professionalism.
A truly inspiring place not only for care homes.”

We heard of Vivobene Village through word of mouth and we’re glad we took a closer look at it for this list. It didn’t take much research to conclude that they’re one of the most impressive retirement homes to trust in Thailand when it comes to providing assistance and care.
For starters, we love how they offer different packages to cater to different types of residents who are planning to spend their retirement on their premises. A great example of this is their permanent care service, which features things like 24-hour care, memory support, etc.
We were also pleased to discover that they have a talented and passionate team of professional nurses and caregivers. These people work by the clock to make sure that everyone is accounted for regardless of the time of day.
One thing we wished they could improve upon, is their range of activities, as we felt that they didn’t offer enough events as we would’ve liked. We can see this being a glaring red flag, especially for those who want their loved ones to stay in a happy and vibrant place.
This, however, doesn’t take away the fact that they’re excellent at providing a full range of services for their residents. Overall, it’s still a good place to stay for those looking to find their elderly loved ones a place where they’ll be taken care of.
Pros
- An amazing team of nurses and caregivers
- Features facilities like swimming pools, fitness centres, etc.
Cons
- Lacklustre selection of activities.
One of the better senior residences
“One of the better senior residences we have visited. Most places are wheelchair accessible. Apparently universal design concepts have been adopted. The nurses were friendly. The surroundings were quite well-kept. No pets.”

Many services for elderly people
“Beautiful resort in the country. The rooms are comfortable and the staff accommodating but sometimes a bit slow. There are daily shuttles into town, which is good because it’s a 45-minute drive into town centre. It seems to be a retirement village as well, with a wheelchair-accessible pool and many services for elderly people. The restaurant has good food with decent prices for a resort.”
