The 5 Hearing Centers with the Best Audiologists in Bangkok

How We Picked Centers with the Best Audiologists

Expertise

First, we chose hearing centers that have licensed audiologists with valid credentials and ample clinical experience in the industry.

Technology

Next, we checked the methods and machines used in each hearing center. We chose those with up-to-date equipment that can make an efficient diagnosis and treatment process.

Accessibility

To ensure that clients are conveniently accommodated in their desired schedule, we chose centers with multiple locations and flexible availability.

Customer Service

We also picked centers with an easy booking process and good aftercare service. We based this on our experiences and information from our surveys of their former clients.

Pros

  • Has seven branches in Bangkok
  • Doctors are available everyday
  • Has a mobile app for self-administered hearing tests

Cons

  • Customer service can be improved

Eartone is an ear and hearing center established in 2007 and helmed by a prominent Thai ENT, Dr. Manut Utoomprurkporn. Notably, this facility is operated by Eartone Thailand Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer, distributor, and importer of hearing equipment.

Notably, Eartone has seven branches in Bangkok, but its two main facilities are located in the heart of the city. One is near BTS Ekkamai station, while the other is at Sukhumvit 22 near BTS Phrom Pong.

We appreciate that they have many locations in and outside Bangkok, making it accessible for clients needing consultations and emergency hearing aid repairs or battery replacements.

Furthermore, we found it commendable that Eartone developed a free mobile app for self-administered hearing tests.

Although we do not recommend using this app as a replacement for professional services, we appreciate that it’s fun to use and serves as a handy tool for those considering a formal diagnosis. It’s also great that the app is available in Thai and English.

Another thing that we like about Eartone is that all its centers have board-certified specialists available every day. Its audiologists work in soundproofed rooms to conduct assessments like audiometry and tinnitus matching.

Moreover, the audiologists at Eartone Bangkok can also handle pediatric patients. Toddlers and children can be brought to the clinic for Otoacoustic Emission Testing and Visual Reinforcement Audiometry.

On the other hand, we found some inconsistencies with their customer service since we noted several complaints regarding long waiting times.

Pros

  • Has 14 branches in Thailand
  • Thirty-three years in the industry
  • Developed its own brand of locally-made hearing aids

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • No audiologists on weekends

Dear Hearing stands out in this list because it has the most branches in Thailand. It has fourteen facilities in the country, four of which are in Bangkok.

Established in 1989 by Dr. Somchai Pattana-Anek and Dr. Mukda Patana-Anek, Dear Hearing started out as an Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic.

Through its 33 years in the industry, it transformed from an ENT clinic into a full-service hearing center that imports and provides hearing care equipment to individuals and major hospitals.

However, what we found impressive with Dear Hearing is that it manufactures its own line of hearing aid called DRONE. Through the vision of its founders, the company was able to create locally made equipment for the Thai people.

Another thing that we like about Dear Hearing is that it has audiologists in all its Bangkok branches. From our surveys, we were able to note that its specialists thoroughly conduct hearing tests like tympanometry and audiometry.

The staff at Dear Hearing are also known to be reliable and friendly. We appreciate that the doctors and receptionists are all fluent in English, making the sessions smooth and efficient.

On the downside, we’re deducting points for availability and accessibility since all branches are closed on Sunday. Moreover, its audiologists are only available on weekdays.

Nonetheless, we recommend Dear Hearing because of its good reputation and dependable services. Its long years in the industry prove that its services are something the Thai people have relied on continuously for all hearing concerns.

Pros

  • Uses Grason-Stadler (GSI) audiology tools
  • Sleek and modern facilities
  • Professional staff
  • Internationally-accredited audiologists
  • Can conduct a full range of audiology assessments

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays

Next on our list is hearLIFE, the biggest one-stop hearing care group in the Asia Pacific. Notably, it has clinics in nine countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, Vietnam, Korea, Cambodia, Mongolia, and Thailand.

Another reason this center stands out from other hearing care centers in Bangkok is its full range of audiology tools. All its equipment for audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, and auditory evoked potentials is from the renowned Grason-Stadler (GSI).

It is also noteworthy that hearLIFe conducts a wide range of audiology assessments in its Bangkok facility, including Auditory Steady State Response, Electrocochleography, Auditory Brainstem Response, Impedance Test Battery, and Diagnostic Otoacoustic Emissions.

What we like most about hearLIFE Bangkok is its modern and well-designed facility. Although we found it quite small, we appreciate that it has ample parking space and can be easily accessed through the Sutthisan MRT station.

Notably, the hearLIFE branch in Bangkok has experienced audiologists, AVT speech therapists, cochlear implant specialists, child development specialists, and clinical engineers.

We were impressed to learn that its audiologists are accredited members of the British Society of Audiology Professionals, Singapore Audiology, MED-EL Academy, and Alexander Graham Bell Academy.

It’s also worth noting that we received several remarks from their clients that commend the professional attitude of hearLIFE specialists. We were glad to learn that the Bangkok staff are patient, thorough, and accommodating.

Pros

  • Has been in the industry for 33 years
  • Has three branches in Bangkok
  • Professional and efficient staff

Cons

  • Its Wisutkasat branch needs to be updated

Intimex is a Premier Lifestyle Hearing Center in Central Bangkok. Like Dear Hearing, it was also established in 1989 though it expanded conservatively to only four locations: three in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai.

Intimex currently operates with a handful of audiologists and hearing coaches. However, all have outstanding credentials, experience, educational background, and training to provide reliable audiology services.

Although Intimex has several branches in Bangkok, we recommend visiting its Rama XI branch. This establishment is relatively new and has modern facilities compared to the one in Wisutkasat, which looks quite rundown.

In terms of services, you can find major audiology treatments in all its branches. Its specialists do various hearing tests, earwax removal, tinnitus management, custom earplugs, and hearing protection.

Additionally, Intimex also accepts pediatric patients. Its branch in North Light Center along Sam Chai Alley has staff adept at handling children and comfortably leading them through audiology tests.

We’ll also let its near-perfect rating on Google Reviews speak for itself. Since it has provided care for a vast number of clients in its long history, we’re glad to see that they know how to efficiently deal with patients of all ages.

Finally, Intex gets plus points for being open every day, making it accessible to clients needing consultations and emergency hearing aid repairs or replacements.

Although its other branches are closed on Mondays, we appreciate that its facility on Rama XI is open daily.

5. Audimed

Pros

  • Has two branches in Thailand
  • Its Bangkok branch is accessible by buses
  • Has 15 audiologists in the facility

Cons

  • Walk-ins are discouraged

The team of audiologists in Audimed is slightly bigger than other hearing centers in Bangkok, given that it only has one branch in the city. Notably, it has 15 audiologists in the facility, headed by Asst. Prof. Jiemjit Thawin, a Senior Audiologist and Aural Rehabilitation Specialist.

We can see several advantages of this setup because it means there is a wide pool of experience that makes for a more comprehensive approach. Also, its number of audiologists ensures that there are always several available in the facility.

Another thing we like about Audimed is that it offers the full range of Oticon and Starkey hearing aids. This is much appreciated by its clients because it gives them the flexibility to choose from affordable models to high-end ones.

Audimed also handles Cochlear Implant Surgeries. Its audiologists are known to be thorough and professional in handling implant cases, from counseling and mapping to the actual surgery.

On the other hand, we must mention that Audimed requests clients to make an appointment before 3 PM of the previous day. Those who need battery replacements, repairs, and consultations should look for a different center in case of emergencies.

There is also nothing extraordinary about their range of services. In fact, we noticed that they offer slightly fewer services than the other hearing centers we checked out.
