Pros
- Accessible school fees
- Offers the B.C. curriculum
- Subjects are taught in English
- Promotes cultural diversity
- Provides excellent one-on-one ELL assistance
- Offers variety of athletic opportunities
Cons
- Far from transit stations
British Columbia International School Bangkok is a small off-shore Canadian school that provides kindergarten through secondary school programs that are acknowledged globally.
Notably, it’s the only officially recognized and accredited Canadian school in Bangkok! We also think it’s noteworthy that it’s the only college in the country to provide the highly sought-after British curriculum (B.C.).
We’re impressed that its elementary program has a broad curriculum, a nurturing setting, and a focus on the development of the whole child. For us, this guarantees that each child’s needs are met in the most suitable manner.
We also value the British Columbia International School Bangkok’s consideration of its students’ cultural customs and traditions. The school observes Songkran, Loy Krathong, and Canadian Christmas—a plus for inclusivity!
Additionally, BCISB provides excellent one-on-one English Language Learner (ELL) assistance for students who need to improve their English, as well as Thai language assistance for recently arrived expat students.
We also appreciate that they provide these services without charging extra.
Moreover, we value the variety of athletic opportunities they offer as part of their extracurricular activities. At BCISB, you can participate in field sports, basketball, futsal, volleyball, ice hockey, badminton, table tennis, and more.
Plus, it’s remarkable that all subjects here are taught in English, except for the daily Thai language classes.
Notably, graduates of BCISB receive diplomas from both Thailand and British Columbia, Canada, thanks to the institution’s accreditation by those ministries of education. Many of their former students now attend renowned universities abroad.
Another good thing about BCISB is that you can access its tuition fees on their website. We find this convenient since parents or guardians don’t need to go onsite to ask for the school fees.
However, please be reminded that other fees such as those for meals, the school bus, and uniforms are not included in the tuition fee.
Finally, the only disadvantage we see is that the campus seems relatively far from transit stations, which we find pretty inconvenient.

Pros
- Offers the CORe Program from Harvard Business School
- Fully not-for-profit international school
- Offers IB program for all year levels
- Excellent World Languages Program
Cons
- Expensive fees
The first non-profit international school in Bangkok to offer the IB curriculum is NIST International School. In particular, it is frequently ranked as among the best international schools in the nation.
We like that this institution caters to a wide range of programs from Nursery to Year 13. While numerous other schools only offer a portion of the IB curriculum, NIST offers all four programs to students from the ages of 3 to 19.
We value its IB program, especially for the early years through year six, since the school says it frees children to be children.
Moreover, it’s amazing that during the Primary Years Programme (PYP), students explore various subject areas, which are integrated into activities rather than taught in isolation.
Notably, students move on to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IBDP in Years 12 and 13 after completing the PYP.
We believe that this progression of programs creates the best possible learning environment for students’ all-around development.
Additionally, we appreciate that NIST International School recognizes the value of variety in education. This school’s wide variety of specialised programs allows each student’s individual interests and skills to be enhanced.
We also value the NIST’s efforts to cultivate entrepreneurially minded students who are business-minded. Notably, it is the only university in Asia to provide the Harvard Business School Credential of Readiness (CORe) program.
However, the school’s exceptional programs and resources can cost you more.
The average annual tuition fee for elementary programs costs around 300,000 THB, and depending on the student’s year, tuition fees at NIST can cost anywhere from 500,000 to 975,800 THB, which is a hefty price to pay.

Pros
- Offers wide range of extracurricular activities
- Provides top-notch curriculum
- Teaches American and IB university-preparatory curriculum
Cons
- Inconsistent quality of service
Wells International School encourages all students to achieve their goals while pushing themselves in an environment that may be outside of their comfort zone.
Notably, Wells International School is confident about offering top-notch global education. We especially like that enrollments are accepted all year long, and tuition costs are all-inclusive and free of any additional costs or restrictions.
The facilities and the campus itself are also quite beautiful! The students we spoke with have commented that its modern libraries are ideal for learning and studying.
We also appreciate that Wells provides students in kindergarten through high school with an American and IB university-preparatory curriculum.
With this, parents have noted that their kids are much more college-ready than some of their peers.
It’s also noteworthy that Wells holds a Thai Ministry of Education licence, WASC accreditation dating back to 2009, membership in the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT), and the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).
Another thing we like about Wells is it doesn’t only focus on the student’s academic well-being but also on their physical capabilities.
Wells provides a variety of opportunities to participate in competitive team sports as well as individual sports since it is a member of the Asian International School Athletic Association (AISAA) and the ASEAN Schools Athletic Conference (ASAC).
The only drawback we found with Wells is there have been some prior claims that some teachers are not paying attention to students’ whereabouts at school. This is an odd issue in our books, but we’re glad that the school’s environment is very safe.
Despite this, we still believe that Wells is a fantastic option for an elementary school due to its excellent curriculum, solid reputation, and a broad range of extracurricular activities.

Pros
- Offers wide range of extracurricular activities
- Provides top-notch curriculum
- Modern facilities
- Great candidate for college preparatory school
Cons
- Expensive fees
BASIS International School Bangkok strives to be an all-around private school that cares for each student it serves.
Whether you’re looking for a college preparatory school or an engaging learning environment to get your child started, consider BASIS and its warm and welcoming community.
BASIS is off to a good start regarding a student’s functional life thanks to a supportive administration and security personnel constantly monitoring the campus, which is a huge plus in our books!
We are also pleased to discover that BASIS continues to invest in its facilities with more modern buildings and features.
Aside from academic classrooms, the campus has a competition pool, an indoor convertible gym, a designer kitchen with 3-D printing, a woodshop, engineering and robotics labs, a library, a Black Box Theater, and other amenities.
As for the teaching environment here, we’re glad to see that it hires the best teachers in Bangkok to instruct students! All the teachers here are highly experienced and come from an impressive academic background.
We’re also impressed by how they developed a special teaching strategy for grades 1-4 that motivates pupils to take academic risks while receiving constant, specialised support.
Early on, BASIS wants its students to excel in their academics and possibly even in college. Hence, we think that this qualifies it as a great candidate for a college preparatory school.
We also appreciate how the students are further enriched by participating in extracurricular athletic and artistic endeavours.
Plus, we think it’s amazing that students have access to various clubs, including sports, the arts, science, and other unique clubs like cooking.
However, its exceptional programs and resources come at a high cost. The BASIS annual tuition fee ranges from 685,000 to 945,000 THB, which is a hefty price to pay depending on the student’s year.

Pros
- Offers wide range of extracurricular activities
- Provides top-notch curriculum
- Modern facilities
- Quiet and spacious vicinity
- Great student-teacher ratio
Cons
- Expensive fees
King’s College International School Bangkok is an independent international school in Bangkok where young students come to learn and have fun. Our first impression of the place is that it is incredibly cosy and calming.
In addition, King’s College gets extra points in our book because it provides the ideal learning environment—a cosy, quiet international school hidden away from the city, surrounded by trees.
In our books, what distinguishes King’s College from other international elementary schools in Bangkok is how it incorporates sports, trips, and arts into its curriculum.
Its approach is noteworthy since it broadens the learning experience for young students while still keeping things engaging and stimulating!
Additionally, we appreciate that King’s College provides a range of mandatory activities through its CCA program. It also offers broad options for optional activities through its ECA program to aid in the development of the students.
Even though it’s a little more expensive than our other recommendations, this school’s excellent education and spectacular vicinity make it well worth the extra cost. In addition, we are impressed by how modern and roomy their facilities are.
We also appreciate King’s College’s small class sizes, which enable instructors to concentrate on the unique requirements of each student.
For any parent searching for an international elementary school in Bangkok, this is probably one of the most important factors to take into account.

Pros
- Montessori Approach
- Multilingual Environment
- Cosmic Education Curriculum
Cons
- Expensive fees
Montessori Academy Bangkok International School is another option for elementary schools in Bangkok.
MABIS follows the Montessori pedagogy, which is known for its child-centered approach and emphasis on fostering independence, confidence, and a love for learning. We think this approach can create a nurturing and empowering environment for students.
The school offers a carefully designed multilingual environment, which we find beneficial for students as they grow and learn in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
MABIS provides an Elementary program, encompassing Lower Elementary (ages 6-9) and Upper Elementary (ages 9-12). This program is designed to respond to children’s developing imagination, creativity, and interest in the world around them.
The curriculum, centered around Cosmic Education, introduces students to a broader understanding of the universe, human civilizations, and the development of culture. This approach can help students develop a global perspective and a sense of interconnectedness.
What we also like about them is focus on the development of essential academic skills through a rigorous curriculum. This ensures that students acquire a strong academic foundation while also fostering their curiosity and critical thinking abilities.

Pros
- Progressive Curriculum
- Emphasis on Creativity
- Language-Rich Environment
- Parent-Teacher Collaboration
Cons
- Limited Age Range
Raintree’s early childhood programme integrates the British curriculum with the Reggio Emilia approach, emphasizing purposeful exploration and play.
This holistic approach encourages children to inquire, think critically, and collaborate, laying a strong foundation for academic success and lifelong learning. We think this approach can benefit many children.
We like how Raintree places a special emphasis on fostering creativity among its students. Through hands-on activities, artistic expression, and project-based learning, children are encouraged to unleash their imagination, develop problem-solving skills, and express themselves freely.
With an authentic language programme, Raintree provides a nurturing environment for language acquisition.
Experienced teachers facilitate language learning in natural settings, enabling children to become confident communicators and embrace diversity as global citizens.
Raintree boasts a team of caring and qualified teachers dedicated to the well-being and academic development of each child.
With a low child-to-staff ratio, teachers provide personalized attention, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive. This is what we like about them.
Raintree promotes a strong partnership between teachers and parents, recognizing the importance of collaboration in a child’s education journey. Through open communication and regular updates, parents are actively involved in their child’s learning and development.
Raintree’s focus on early childhood education caters primarily to children aged 1-5 years old. While this provides a nurturing environment for young learners, families with older children may need to seek alternative educational options beyond the elementary years.
