How to Get to Pattani

Getting to Pattani is relatively straightforward, with several transportation options available:

  • By Air: The nearest airport is Hat Yai International Airport, about 130 kilometers away. You can take a bus, taxi, or rent a car to reach Pattani in approximately two hours.
  • By Train: Pattani is accessible by train from Bangkok and other cities, with the nearest station in Khok Pho, about 30 kilometers away. From Khok Pho, take a local bus or taxi to Pattani.
  • By Bus: Regular bus services run from Bangkok, Hat Yai, and other southern cities to Pattani. The trip from Bangkok takes 12-14 hours, while from Hat Yai it’s about two hours.
  • By Car: Pattani is about 1,055 kilometers south of Bangkok, with a drive time of approximately 14 hours via Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road). Driving lets you explore the beautiful scenery and make stops along the way.

The Bird Watching Center is a favorite hangout for locals, especially around the ‘blue lake’ at sunset. A sunset walk here treats you to beautiful scenery as you stroll along the raised footpath over the marshlands and climb the viewpoint tower for even better views. 

We arrived about an hour before sunset, so we didn’t see many birds, but the views were still awesome. To reach the center, drive through the university campus, where there’s plenty of parking for cars and bikes.

Titi Kayu Bandar is a hidden gem for those looking to experience a peaceful community effort to preserve mangrove forests. The atmosphere here is serene, perfect for a relaxing stroll.

The Green Market isn’t as big as Hat Yai’s, but it offers a lot of halal food stalls worth trying at cheaper prices. There’s plenty of table space for dining, and the lively atmosphere is enhanced by local youngsters hanging out. 

While there aren’t many clothing shops, you can find some decent options, especially for Muslimah attire. The parking area is mostly for motorcycles, so car parking can be tricky.

Public Night Market Pattani

The Public Night Market in Pattani is safe, clean, and offers great service. Prices are reasonable, with a huge variety of products, and it’s just a five-minute walk from the Central Mosque. 

You can enjoy local food, fruits, and desserts, like coconut shakes for only 20-25 baht, and find women’s and children’s clothes, with bundle clothes as low as 20 baht.

Family Hypermart
