Wat Paramaiyikawat is located at the northeastern tip of Koh Kret, and the temple is known for its white Mon-style chedi, which began tilting over a century ago due to riverbank erosion. It’s like the leaning Tower of Pisa, but make it a pagoda.
Yes, it really is leaning, and despite restoration efforts, the pagoda remains like that and has become a distinctive symbol of Koh Kret.
And inside the ordination hall, visitors can admire murals that blend traditional Thai and Western art styles. You can also see a large reclining Buddha in the temple, and a museum showcasing Mon artifacts and pottery.

And as you walk inside the hall, you’ll see the principal Buddha statue “Phra Buddha Maha Logapinantapatima,” and close to it is the grand sanctuary “Wihan Sila Khao” housing “Phra Sila Khao.” These Buddha statues and images are central to the temple’s spiritual significance.

Wat Ku has a tragic association as it was the place where Queen Sunanda Kumariratana’s (consort of King Rama V) body was temporarily placed after she drowned in the Chao Phraya River near the temple.
That said, remnants of the royal barge involved in Queen Sunanda’s accident are preserved on the temple grounds, serving as a somber reminder of the past. Aside from that, you can also find the reclining Buddha statue.
We also suggest you visit during the morning to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and avoid the afternoon heat. And keep in mind to dress modestly when visiting religious sites.

Wat Bangchak is another prominent temple along the Chao Phraya River. You can easily see the most notable feature—a massive golden seated Buddha statue that overlooks the water, making it a popular spot for visitors.
One of the things that caught our attention was the large Erawan statue, a three-headed elephant from Hindu and Thai mythology. It’s a powerful symbol often associated with protection and royal authority.
Other than that, at the base of the giant Buddha, you’ll see three passageways shaped like the heads of a dragon, a tiger, and what’s believed to be Yama (the god of death). And the grounds have many more colorful statues, featuring folklore and faith.

Joining a workshop is quite affordable and a fun activity to add to your itinerary. For instance, at Pa Tum Pottery, you can buy clay for about ฿50 and receive guidance from pro potters at no extra cost.
